Thanks all for the quick and informed feedback...love this site! When Ai asked about CPO on this 2011 /27k and 22 most remaining on warranty, dealer said just that....the $3-$4k cost would simply be passed on to me.. Wo know how much it really costs the dealer to CPO this car?

If you add his CPO cost number to the asking price, then the price goes to around 61K.
You could probably get this car new for around 70.2k which would include a full warranty. I'm not sure if your budget can stand that but if it can, then I would tell the dealer he either throws in the CPO or you'll go somewhere else and buy a new one. |

I just pick a 2011.5 E93 M3 with the same spec except no cold weather package just heated seats. 38k miles and CPO'd for $56K plus TTL. I would expect CPO for the price he is asking. Mine has higher miles by was a lease return and in mint condition. They gave me a copy of the maintenance records and there was nothing there other than the standard scheduled maintenance. Yours should not be much more with CPO included.

Why was it bought from auction? That would through up a slight minor for me. Tires replaced at 18k is a little soon IMHO. You can run the tires at least 25k. The mileage is not particularly high or low. Not sure what your options are but getting a car from a non snow state is preferable

Thanks Guys. This 2011 M3 I am looking at buying had a MSRP OF $84,075 (confirmed by build sheet and BMW), IS a Florida Car..Lauderdale BMW sold it. No accidents, paint, leather an deheels all look great. Will try to find out why it was sold/ bought at Auction before I buy..original owner might have traded at non-BMW dealer...they often go to auction...just a guess. To buy this same optioned M3 new 2013, MSRP is $84,095. Can buy at dealer cost plus $500, less - $1500 incentive and - $750 loyalty or $76,400 NET. got quote from two dealers. That is a $19,000 spread... Will definately try to get CPO added . Thanks again.

Not sure of the comparison but for my 335 the CPO was a bit over 2k. I'm sure it's a bit higher for an M but 3-4k sounds a bit much. Maybe haggle with them more, be prepared to walk away. I know you want the car bad (i would) but don't show your hand and you might be able to save a few more thousand that you'll be thanking yourself for later. Plus if you do acquire the CPO you'd have some kinda warranty till 2017.
My plan is to enjoy my 335 (first BMW) till 2015 when the CPO runs out then purchase a CPO'd late model 13' (warranty till 19'). Of course i'm saying all this before seeing the M4....but the last M3 and v8 are tempting. |

CPO is a process. Whatever the true cost to the dealer, it does require 2-3 weeks of inspections and paperwork, as I understand it.
My former car mentioned above is offered in about the same price range. |

United BMW is one of the better dealers around here. Its where I take my car to service.
I've been looking at 2011 a lot recently and I don't think that price is too far off. They will normally work with you a little there. Also I would mention that I have rarely ever seen CPO at that dealer and they sell a lot of M3. Not sure why. |

I can't speak to your personal experiences but a simple Autotrader search of 2011 M3s sorted by price indicates that your statement is a fallacy.

That's a better deal than I got. I paid 58.5k for a sticker price of 75.3k and 14.5k miles. It is a late 2011 so good amount of time left on the warranty.

My GF just bought a BMW RAV4... wait I mean an X1 xdrive from United.
I think I've seen the car in person when I was there with her. The dealer is right up the street from me. If its the car I think it is you will not be disappointed. Its very clean. United is known around the Atlanta area as being the best. The price is in line with the other comparables in the area right now. |

United is a Penske dealer and I have to say that from what I've seen, their dealerships are a cut-above in service/customer satisfaction - the largest (by far) BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus dealerships in SD are all Penske and all reputable.

I just bought a 2011 in a E92 version. Same color in/out with an in service date of 4/2010 for $54k. 23k miles and new wheels and tires (I didn't like the originals). I may have paid a little extra but I absolutely LOVE this car.
The car had already gone through the CPO process but the dealer hadn't paid BMWNA the CPO fee which they said was around $2,650. The dealer wanted an extra $3k for CPO. I passed and banked the $. 2011 M3 Jerez Black/Black Novillo Leather DCT Prem Pkg EPS Tech Pkg Moonroof Carbon Leather Interior Sat Last edited by TexasSpartan; 02-14-2013 at 12:51 PM.. |
