Trade 335d for M3+10K?

Here's the offer- My launch 335d (no options except heated seats) 4000 miles
for a 2008 M3 sedan with very few options, 2600 miles and 10K on my end.

Good deal or just so-so?

Don't, you'll miss all that torque.

I don't think you'd be doing this deal if your d had the sport package. It makes all the difference with this type of car in terms of feel. For city driving nothing beats the 335d with all that torque and fuel savings but the sport package is a MUST in my opinion. Having said that, it seems like a fair deal depending on what you paid for the d.

Not sure about the value of the deal, but how do you go from settling on the diesel to now contemplating the M3? That's not a flame, but I think you might want to make absolutely sure you know what you are getting yourself into first - then consider whether the numbers line up.

Good luck, and make sure you get some good snows on the car - whichever car - asap. Winter's in MI are very fun in a BMW as long as you have the right tires.

I drove both and after taking road conditions into consideration, I'm happy with the standard setup. If I wanted a stiffer suspension, I'd go with BMW Performance. You have to remember these cars weigh close to 2 tons and there is only so much you can do with a car that heavy.

Be sure the 08 wasn't a demo. Demo's get abused to no end. Doesn't sound like that great of a deal to me unless the M is optioned out a bit, but I'm not in tune with US prices. What are the options on the M3? Does it have the tech or premium package or DCT?

I saw a US spec AW 09 coupe with 1800 miles that was traded in going for 46K at the dealer. Only option was Ipod/USB adapter. Bone head traded it it for an optioned out 335.

IMO I don't think they should sell a 335 w/o the sport package. Seats alone are worth it.

It was a Doctor's car. THe M3 has zero options besides heated seats. I like it that way, especially no moon roof. The standard seats fit me fine and with Michigan roads, I sure don't need it any stiffer. To me, it's a nice family car, not a sports car.
