Battery issues

My local BMW dealer is refusing to warranty a new battery for me due to driving habits. They say I have to many 3 mile trips which doesnt allow the battery to charge.

This is my second M3 (currently an 09 E90) and formerly I had an 08 E90 in which I drove the same exact way/distance for over 60,000 miles with 0 battery issues.

I called BMW NA and they said they can't do anything and have to trust the dealers decision.

Do I have any options here other than buying an expensive ass battery, or getting a different car since evidently I can't drive the M3 properly?

If you cant get BMW to replace it, why buy another car, just replace the battery.

Would it be worth it to try a trickle charger for a night or two to see if it resolves my issues, or just pony up and buy new?

Car seems fine minus clock reset/slowness at times and the occasional increased battery discharge message.

Unreal customer retention practices here! A $100 battery to them and they would risk customer loss. Good it got fixed but brutal you had to bitch to get it done.

I have never seen any other car manufacturer try and deny warranty items like I have with BMW. Glad they fixed it for you, they were getting paid any way they look at it.

Funny, two places told me the same thing. I don't drive the car long enough distances for it to recharge properly. Both suggested a trickle charger or "drive more each day" one guy said...lol

BMW said same thing to me. My 2010 E90 was taken to BMW 4 times with a dead battery. All they did was charge it and send me on my way to die again. Finally I complained to the manager and they replaced it. But it took 4 times for it to die to replace it. And they were trying to blame it on my mods..
