A mathematician on NPR today said you have better chance catching and dying from flesh-eating bacteria.
Current odds of lottery - 1:176,000,000 Odds of being struck by lightning - 1:500,000 Odds of dating a super model - 1:88,000

Although the chance of winning is obviously miniscule, entering a pool with strangers on an Internet forum without a written and signed agreement sounds like a bad idea

You have equal chance of dying in a car crash driving .4 miles as you do winning.
And I dropped $20. (this is in no way an entry into this "pool")

Theoretically, it's possible. You have to take into account the sheer volume of tickets you'd have to buy, and the people who buy the tickets would have to fill out the 5-sheet thing for each 5 numbers you buy. That's 35,200,000 $5 purchases. Since you have to pay in cash, where are all these 5 dollar bills coming from? Plus there's no guarantee someone else won't also win, and there goes your "investment".

Wasn't there a giant thread in here somewhere talking about lottery odds and the statistical analysis of them? I seem to remember that thread got heated.... Math makes people rage apparently.
