Will I regret getting a megan exhaust?

Recently I purchased a megan racing exhaust (catback should really be called a axle back but that's another story) the price was hard to beat.

I researched and originally wanted something like a meisterschaft or akrapovic but I can't bring myself to spent $3-4k on an exhaust when a supercharger kit can be had for $8000 or even less if you buy used.

Will I regret my choice? The reviews online seem good but reviewers are sometimes biased.

The only person that can determine that is you. But I agree with your thought process, if being s/c'ed is the end goal.

You will not regret it, I have people all the time follow me into parking lots just to say that the car sounds awesome. I have the Megan/Test Pipe combo.

I think that most "average Joes" would think it sounds good but to other M3 owners and compared to other options, it does not sound good at all IMO.

I don't have an exhaust on my car but I have heard a few. Seems that all slip-on/rear section exhaust that retain the OEM cats don't really do much to the quality of sound...they are all fairly quiet - a diffence of a couple +/-dBs. So I think any exhaust you choose will be pretty similar just depends on how loud you want it. Also, take into account that even a straight pipe or ACM isnt that loud. In fact the ACM/straight pipe is almost the exact same thing as the BMW performance exhaust, which is a striaght perforated pipe enclosed with now insulation. I really dont think you can lose with a Megan exhaust, expecially for the money.

You will have no regrets with the Megan. I've had it on my car for 18mos. now with the Turner Test Pipes and the car sounds amazing. I have people follow me just to tell me how good the exhaust sounds. Fitment is good, no issues with broken brackets, keep in mind its pretty much just a rebadged Agency Power exhaust for a 1/3 of the price.

It is not the most aggressive of exhausts, more in line with the Akrapovic in that it isn't the loudest exhaust but still souds very nice and aggressive with the Test Pipes.

As far as stock with full OEM xpipe, it is more aggressive but definitely sounds like its been neutered.

Well... It's a long drive, but considering it's -10 here, maybe a road trip is in order

The price is hard to beat but personally I am not a fan.

Although Dave's car does sound good w/ the test pipes.

If you buy it used beware of backwards welded tips..

I dont think you will regret it. Most seem to be very happy with it. If you want more volume/aggressiveness just remove the cats.

Yea, Meisterschaft etc prob sound better out of the box but are they worth 5x the price? Prob not.

I still find it funny that the AP exhaust which is exactly the same thing built in the same factory on the same jigs with the same materials but that name at 3 times the cost of the Megan is said to be of great quality and sound good but the exact same cans with the Megan name sounds like crap and is of bad quality. Cracks me up. Line up the cool-aid and there'll be a sucker to swill it down for sure.

I think an rear section exhaust will be one of my last mods since its really for sound rather than performance. When I do pull the trigger, I think that I will be buying a Megan exhaust as I can't see myself paying $3k for something that adds so little performance benefits.

i don't think you'll regret. people who have it have had good reviews. for the price you just can't go wrong. and hey the worst that happens is you sell it for a tiny loss. win win imo

I have it and it sounds awesome. Next step for me will be a x-pipe to get rid of the secondary cats and the resonators.

The Megan without the resonators will be very raspy...you may want to rethink this.

I've had my Megan cat-back since July and love it. No regrets, none. Much better than stock and much much more affordable than the exotic ones. Just buy it!
