International Photo Competition: BraunPrize 2009

Hey Folks.
Last week I entered a photo competition where I can win a trip to Germany. Competition has been tremendously tight w/ competitors gaining as many as 100 votes in just a few hours. So, I'm reaching out to my friends for additional support. All you have to do is click the link supplied and click vote, less that a 1 minute. And I would really appreciate it.

For those that have already voted, thank you! I wouldn't be in the competitive position I'm in now if it weren't for you guys.

This is the picture I entered.

Forgive me and I will probobally get slated for this but what good is a competition where you get friends to vote for your own entry.

No, that's a legitimate question. In the rules it encourages the participants to go out and get votes. Here's the section that states that.

Quote:
How To Vote
Voting for Your Favorites
Anyone can vote for the image they find most inspiring. Simply click on the "vote" button to cast your vote for an image. You can only vote once per image. Participants who submit an image will receive a unique URL to send out to their friends and fans to ask for their votes!

Originally, I was just going to leave it as is. But then I noticed some pictures just skyrocketing with views/votes. So in an effort not to be left behind, I started my own little campaign.

I was actually ready to enter my own photo...until I realized I would never win even if my photo was better than others since I won't whore out my link for votes. I think photo contests should be judged by professionals when there are prizes being awarded.

The popular vote is actually just to get you to the finals. The actual trip to Germany and prizes are awarded by judges. Core77 is an industrial design site. In this field not only do you have to be good at what you do, but also have the ability to move your concept forward to the point of selection. So in a way the contest rules reflect what actually happens in the professional world.
