Check engine light and I've got a track weekend tomorrow :(
I just started getting a Service Engine Soon light when I left the office. I ran Bavarian Technics and got the codes below.
I am a sh*tty mechanic and have no idea what this means, any help would be appreciated....most importantly can I leave for MSR Cresson tomorrow or do I need to take it in right away. Engine module for S65 (M3) Current Fault Codes 2739: Air mass meter secondary air elec diagnosis Error will cause a warning light Error is currently present Test conditions have been completed Signal or value below threshold 27C5: Air mass meter secondary air implausible Error will cause a warning light Error is currently present Test conditions have been completed |

Did you ever find out what the cause of the codes was? I ask because Friday afternoon I got the old "Increased Emissions" at 4:40pm. Called the dealer to see if they could just read to code and tell me if it was safe for this past weekend's "road trip" and they told me no, but they said as long as the Service Engine light was yellow, it was fine (which mine is). So I drove it like I stole it all weekend and never had any mechanical issues.
Weird thing was, no error Saturday. But it popped back up Sunday. I already have an appt for Weds, just curious what your failure was due to and if mine is the same. Edited to add: I know it's NOT because the gas cap is loose....

SA just called and said I needed a secondary air pump replaced. I know it's OT for this subforum, but does anyone know what that part does? And what would cause it to fail?

^^^^ Congrats on the upcoming BBK!!!
Just kidding Did you feel it happen or did you notice it after the session? That is quite the failure. |

I *think* the secondary air pump is only used for cold starts to provide fresh air to the cats. Not sure what would cause it to fail other than it being an electric part which would no doubt fail eventually.
