Been looking at Akra, RPi, and possibly Dinan or AA. I'm still thinking about it and would love to hear an X-pipe hooked up to the stock exhaust. As we discussed, I would like to see some real world power gains so that is a huge part of my decision.

Fabspeed would be a good choice as well since it will not throw a CEL code.

Great videos, it would be great to see the same video with xpipes added.

Great video. Videos like this really help everyone make the right choice when looking at an exhaust.

My offer still stands Franklin if you ever decide to do this again or for anyone in the Houston area willing to meet up for a comparison video.

Exclamation

I agree, great helpful video!!!

Sorry that I have one concern/discrepancy though...I think some of the exhaust comparision can be a little tainted when comparing a 6mt with the DCT. I could tell the guy with the AA exhaust was a DCT & I'm assuming the guy with the Eisenmann Race was a 6mt? Only say this because on the hard acceleration, there seemed a short drop & lag of exhaust sound from the Eisenmann Race exhaust & the AA exaust was just smoothly increasing. If I'm wrong, sorry...but my point is, could another be done with ALL cars being the same, either 6mt or DCT? Because, I think I would get an even better hearing feel for the Eisenmann Race exhaust if it was also smoothly increasing as well. I'm also interested in hearing the Eisenmann Sport & stock with X pipe set-ups too!

mrtm2008: Ha ha...yeah it was hard enough getting the four of us together...was over a month of planning. But I do give accolade to your ears. The AA car (mine) is in fact a DCT; the other three cars (OEM, Dinan, Eisenman Race) were all 6MT. It seems like there aren't really any E9X M3 drivers in Houston, especially E9X M3 drives in Houston with an after market exhaust. I think I'm the only person in Houston with an AA exhaust. If there are others out there, let me know and I can edit you into the existing video.

This message goes for everybody. For those who did not participate in the video and have a different after martket exhaust to offer (RPI, Remus Sport, Remus Race, Riss Racing, Akrapovic, Gintanni, Vanguard), we can meet up and do a short segment; I can edit you into the existing video as if you were there.

For those who do not know, people in the Houston area, if you are interested in the Vanguard TI exhaust, PM John and he will give you a special price. He also would like you to particiapte and make a video as well. Again, I can film and edit somebody with a Vanguard TI exhaust into the existing video so that we gradually expand on the comparison video.

I came very close to being that guy. If the local dealer hadn't let me try the Dinan on a trial basis, I most likely would have ended up with the Vanguard setup. Great looking exhaust, lightweight, insane price for a Titanium exhaust, all the videos I've heard sound awesome, and John seems to offer really good customer service. Pretty hard to go wrong there.

Thank you. I appreciate the consideration and your kind words. If you change your mind or anyone in the Houston area thinking about this system, just let me know.

I am pulling my DINAN exhaust off tomorrow in favor of the Eisenmann Race.

That system has balls.

Great work guys. It's posts like this that make E90 post the premiere stop for BMW enthusiasts.

First I want to say again, you guys did an awesome job!!! I understand all that it took to get this finally together & it's great that you guys took the time to do this! Sorry if I've come off like a jerk. It's just that I'm completely unsure how I personally feel about the AA & Eisenmann Exhausts. Your AA Signature sounds SO good & so does the Eisenmann. I just personally would like to hear how the Eisenmann would sound on a DCT to completely hear apples to apples to determine a personal answer to which one I like better. And that might answer the same for others on the fense.

Thanks again for putting this together & props to all those involved!!!

Eisenmann on a DCT and Eisenmann on a 6MT (or any exhaust on a DCT as opposed to 6MT) would probably sound near the same. The difference is that since the DCT shifts so fast, there is no lag in the exhaust note "resetting" when you are on the throttle again. As far as the tone and loudness, they should be identical or nearly identical.

Both should sound nearly identical (except the shifting part, as mentioned) indeed, PROVIDED the DCT driver shifts MANUALLY to allow the engine to rev like if it was a manual.
It seemed to me the DCT car took off in 'D' on the 'aggressive launch', since it shifted way too early to appreciate the exhaust's high-rpm tone. That's probably what prompted the comments.

Next time more specific instructions could be given, like shifting at 4K rpm on 'normal launch', 7K on 'aggressive launch', and WOT on fly-bys (I just picked numbers arbitrarily). But just the way it is, that comparo is better than anything else here because it was taken with the same camera . In hindsight, we can always make things better . Good day gang.

The DCT car on the hard acceleration was in S mode, and did shift early (around 5,000 rpms).
