Vinyl wrap m3 question...

I was thinking of having my m3 vinyl wrapped with matte white... Then I thought, what happens when you open the doors, trunk or hood? I guess they don't wrap that... Do they?

Also any pictures of e92 with matte white vinyl? Saw couple of sedans... But not many coupes.

Thanks

No, most of them do not. Plan on seeing everything past the edge. I have seen wraps on other Ms and most cheapen them especially when you can see the color differences.

Ive read a few FAQs on various installers and they state that they do the doors and other easily visible areas. Just remember, you get what you pay for. Those folks probably charge you a bit more to do it...

+1. Either way though, there's no way to cover it all up especially if you choose a darker or lighter color than you already have.

I've seen some of the local jobs...a lot to be desired.

I wouldnt get a wrap, im not a fan of it tbh.

Theres a reason why its cheap, because it looks cheap.

You cant get the depth or detail or reflective specs from a vinyl wrap ... well because its plastic.

I would either shell out a few grand more and get yourself a professional respray including the door shuts etc

In answer to your question, yes you can just ask them to do the shuts and trunk at extra cost most likely.

It matters on the shop or person installing it. Most shops go about an inch in past the seams on the door sills and tuck where they can. Some better shops go all the way into the door sills, do the jams, and even do under the doors where you cannot see. It all matters on who you go to and if you are willing to pay more to do it. Here's an example of what I mean on a matte white continental gt:

That is not necessarily true. It matters on the vinyl you use. You're right, most matte vinyls lack any metallics and have no sheen whatsoever, so they obviously look like vinyl. But, there are metallic gloss vinyls which once overlayed with a matte overlaminate, become satin, and still have those metallics and pearls. This looks much more like paint and a classier finish imo, but it also is more expensive for the material and is harder to work with since that overlaminate does make the material a little thicker.
