Radar Detector question!!
I live in Toronto and was wondering if getting a detector is a good idea. Bel STi Driver or Valentine One would be 2 options I'm looking at. From what I know radar detectors are illegal in canada and they can be detected using a radar detector detector. But I also hear that the Bel STi hasn't been detected by any band even the new RDD named Spectre II according to recent speedzones.com tests. So what do people think does anyone have a radar detector in canada and did they ever get caught because of it? also any recommendations for "the best" radar detector?

I have Bel STi and it has been great for detection so far. I have had it for about 4 months and has paid itself off 10X over so far. Not sure if it is the best as I have not had another to compare it to, but the reviews are very favorable.

Well I think ill be getting one myself its the only one thats not detectable. Where do you mount it? do you have an M3? also the Bel STi is fairly small compared to the V1

Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC....LEGAL TO OWN.
East of Sask (and all territories I believe)....ILLEGAL TO OWN. Whatever you choose....make sure it's undetectable.

I'm sure the radar detectors are better at avoiding being detected now that 15 years ago, but I used to use radar detectors and I swear I got pulled over more often when I had one than when I didn't. Cops would never let me off, or reduce the speed on the ticket when I had one either. Plus, the extra ticket for having a detector itself and having it confiscated and having to buy a new one got tiresome. I haven't used one for 10 years and have only been pulled over once in that time.
And I'm one of those guys who occasionally drives fast enough to make the newspapers!

I see you are in Toronto. I have only seen laser being used in T.O., no radar anymore (old technology). Maybe they are using radar outside the city. Others may be able to comment on that. Depending on where you drive, you either need a laser jammer or radar detector (or both)!
