Yes, that color is NOT for everyone, but I love it, and it isn’t my daily driver…

Would I order that color again, HELL YES!

Awesome choice on an awesome color! This was my first choice too but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of special ordering the color so I settled for Alpine White on my M3. But it looks like it's totally worth it.

I wouldn't powder coat the wheels. They look great as-is.

A “hassle” that is an understatement!

It took Germany over a month just to approve the order. Then you have to wait for a slot to special paint your car. After that, it is smooth sailing…

The more I see your car, the more I want to order a Dakar E90 M3 and put an IND CF roof on it. I'm just afraid it would be too taxi-like with the extra doors. I'm praying they make the sedan in 2012. If they do I will likely order next summer and say goodbye to my 135i.

Honest question here: why not do a custom paint job after taking delivery rather than paying the $5k+? Cheaper / warranty / better resale value?

That is one Gorgeous ///M!!! Congrats and by the way, do not powder coat the wheels. I'd keep them stock. I'd rather take the other route find some nice black wheels that are wider and have a better rim design. BUT I would keep the wheels stock, just have a black set. If you powder coat you run the risk of flaking in the long run.

If you decide to sell the wheels hit me up!!

After delivery PICS will follow.

Enjoy!

If you want to get a paint job that comes close to looking like it came from the factory, it will cost a lot more (perhaps up to $10K or more). There will be a lot of prep work involved. There are a lot of areas that require extra work in order to cover up the old color (e.g., door jambs, trunk, hood underside, engine bay, etc). You would need to remove exterior trim, doors, and the engine! And when you're all done, you have also just lowered the car's resale value.

These colors are available through the Individual program. Many U.S. dealers don't seem to know about it or do not want to put in the extra work to get these colors. Each M3 Individual order in the U.S. requires several levels of approval, including the BMW Regional Area Manager, BMW NA and BMW Individual in Garching, Germany.
