Drifting??

Just out of curiosity does anyone find drifting "cool"?

after watching videos like this.. **************************car-videos/01...-Z06-drift.htm

yeah i would love to do that in a z06 but when i watch the speed channel and the NOPI drift races i think its stupid.. I kind of feel like the world moved away from the fast and the furious scene and this might bring it back? i dunno just rambling on i guess

i really admire the real drifters, it takes a tremendous amount of skill. i recommend checking out driftworks videos if you haven't seen them already. just go to youtube and put in driftworks:

drifting to have fun can be just that.

drifting as a sport..................let's just say that any sport where "style" is part of the scoring process is not a real sport IMHO, especially when talking about motorsports. Drive hard, come in first, end of story!

Not a big fan of spectator drifting like D1 and such. The cars look tortured and strained. I appreciate drifting as a means of going around corners at speed e.g. WRC, touge driving etc. Track drifting to adjust the attitude of the car (steering by throttle) is also more enjoyable to look at and observe. Its more graceful and the car feels more happy doing it. Case in point, I prefer to see Tiff Nedell (Fifth Gear), Tshuciya (sp) or the boys from Top Gear drifting the cars rather than the professional drifting events...

Drifting is boring, because I'm pretty much the best drifter ever and it's too easy.

I think it's pretty debatable, the vast majority of the drifters competing in D1 ARE professional racers. Drifting would never be what it is now if it weren't for Keiichi Tsuchiya becoming famous for doing it in circuit racing (obviously that was nothing like show drifting now though). The basics of drifting and racing are the same and to go professional in either isn't exactly easy.

But anyway, drifting is like the figure skating of motorsports. It's a performance. Whether you think it's stupid or not, I think any auto enthusiast can appreciate the incredible skill level of the drivers.

Oh im not doubting the skill, its just that, i dont know if youve ever tried it but drifting in a huge semi circle in a parking lot isnt exactly the hardest thing to do, add in another car for competition and its harder and all, but nothing extreme...Now in Touge, and curvy 2 lane road drifting...thats something else, in some cases i find that harder and more entertaining than circuit racing. Either way, Im a HUGE fan of the sport, and wish i had an extra rear pair of tires, just so i can do it more often....

In that 240sx, you better be putting it to use! thats a natural born drift car..
props

Yea, im sure the people in D1 are qualified racers....but have you seen how much space the road is? and how the tracks are configured? gimme Initial D style drifting FTW. lol

The game is dorky and unrealistic, but im always drawn to it.dunno why...and i always get an S15...
