Tough choices: Sub ceramic, PAM 320(@ paneristi.com my name is RobinGP) or JLC Master Reveil SS 1997. I also have a Swatch Diaphane One.

I'm planning to change the PAM 320 for a 233 or better 270. Or trade it for a ROO with ceramic bezel.

I was looking at JLC duometre quantieme Lunaire. But Rolex came out with the rose gold daytona with black ceramic bezel that will probably be my next purchase. Also like Richard Mille RM010 but that is out of my league for now.

Swatch

I have a hard time understanding the person that buys a 1k+ watch. Probably the same guy that buys a BMW for all the wrong reasons.

There are certainly people out there that buy things for the brand and 'show off' factor. I myself buy things that pleases me. For me, the price is irrelevant as long as I feel that I am getting value for my money.

I agree with you about value. However, I'll take forty $40 Casios over one overpriced Tag Heuer. To me, that makes more financial sense. I assume that's the definition of value you're referring to.

For me, it is watches and cars where I spend. They are my 'poison'. Those are things that I appreciate. I have friends that appreciate $300 bottle of wine where I do not and would not spend $30 for a bottle because I simply do not appreciate it. To each it's own, I guess.

To use your example, the funny thing is a battery powered casio is probably more accurate than a tag. The most accurate watch that I have is a 20 year old seiko more than any mechanical watch that I have. It certainly does not make financial sense at all to get a fancy watch. It is all about wants, not need.

Speaking of accurate, I wear an explorer II black face every day. This damn thing keeps terrible time but it was a gift from my wife so I deal with it. I have a gmt that I wear about once a month. I bought my wife a date just for her "push" present when she gave birth to our daughter. Hers has the pink mop face with diamonds for the numbers. I like her watch better than any of mine. I really like the face of hers. I do like Rolex's. So far I have never lost a dime on one.
