Just dialed in my ride with some coding...

I did some coding earlier today....

08-05-2011
  • No Accept - Disable the Navigation "Accept Screen"
  • No Ignition Gong -Suppress GONG when key is in the ignition and the door is open
  • NAV FSS - Enabled NAV Fuel Stop Suggestion
  • Key Fob or CA Window Up - Roll windows up or down with Key Fob or Comfort Access
  • Key Fob or CA Mirror Fold- Fold Mirrors with Key fob locking or Comfort Access
  • Mirror Unfold - Automatically retract mirrors when unlocking the car
  • Window Finish - Allow windows to continue roll up or down with door interruption
  • MDrive DSC off option - Added DSC Off as a menu option for the MDrive button settings
  • Fuel Reserve Threshold - Fuel Reserve Warning at 1/8 tank instead of 1/4 tank or a value between the two

Updates - Added more Bells & Whistles to the Coding Journal

08-13-2011
  • Wiper Completion - Windshield Wiper Finishes its cycle when the ignition is turned off
  • Comfort Exit - Doors automatically unlock if locked when the ignition is turned off (No more double pull to open the door)
  • Instant MPG - Actual real time MPG reading on the cluster, cycles after the toggle of the Average MPG reading

08-14-2011
  • Video in Motion [VIM] - DVD & iPhone 4 Media Cradle Video in Motion for Both DVD's in the Player and with TV Shows/Movies loaded on the iPhone

08-20-2011
  • Seat belt Chime - Turned of the Seatbelt Chime for both the driver and passenger, warning light and CIC message remain.

09-01-2011
06-10-2012
  • "EURO MDM" - Car has the Euro MDM profile and attributes. DSC is less obtrusive than the US MDM profile.
  • Fuel Reserve - Notification changed to 1/6th or .167 [Previously coded to 1/8th]

06-20-2012
  • Lane Change Blinker MOD to 5X - Updated the lane change triple blink 3x to be 5x blinks. Can be configured to be any value between 4x & 7x.
  • 8 Programmable Presets - Updated button cluster to the Euro mode. Now AM/FM the MODE button are user programmable. Not required, but for aesthetics I installed the Euro Buttion Cluster

06-25-2012

07-10-2012
  • BFD - Brake Force Display - Rear LCI brake lights will flash under extreme braking when the ABS is activated.

Good stuff man. The mirror folding and unfolding when locking and unlocking is sweet. I would love to have that as well.

Question on coding. Would any Hex-Can OBD-II cable, such as VCDC (aka VAG-COM), work with whatever software is required, or do you need a specialty cable (with built in key for the software)? And for that matter, what is the software used? Sorry, I'm new to BMW coding (do have a decent amount of experience on VW/Audis). Thanks!

Please post your questions here (http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=368) if you get stuck.

I don't know if this applies to M3s but there are other cool features that I like.

-Disable the safety feature that stops windows from rolling down when your passenger opens their door. Car is off and you're rolling up the windows before you get out of the car. If the passenger opens their door before the windows rolls up completely, it'll stop it in midway.

-Let the wipers complete their cycle when you shut down the car. If you shut down your car while the wiper is in the middle of the windscreen, it will just stay there.

These 2 things bugged the hell out of me before I fixed them through coding.

I coded window door interruption functionality. I may code the wiper park but I don't plan on driving the car in the rain.

Next thing is to code the suppression of your gif signature

Hey tlp, if you stare at it and let the .gif cycle 30 times, you'll see something unexpected. It's an optical illusion. Check it out.

I can't wait to do all of these things to my car. Is it that difficult to do for someone who's never done any coding before?

I looked at the spreadsheet in the thread linked above and couldn't find anything on automatically folding and unfolding the mirrors when unlocking and locking the car. Is there another thread where you're finding the information on how to do this?

Not possible to do it automatically...

It's part of the sequence for rolling up the windows/mirrors which is set in the CAS. After that is set the mirrors must be activated to fold in the NFRM/FRM.

It's the Fold Mirror setting in FRM module that works in conjunction with CAS settings to auto fold up when holding the lock button on the Key fob or lock pad on the door handle if you have comfort access. If the mirrors are in up position they will automatically unfold when you enter the car via the Fob or the CA door handle. You do not have hold anything when entering, just a click or pull of the handle.
