Autoweek has a story on the new M3:
http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl.../70115009/1008

But that are the same "photos" that the UK mag featured.
Anyway there's one new of a white M3:
http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl...5&Profile=1008
source: autoweek.com

This M3 seems to have a carbon roof! So it could be a option!

Best regards, south

Pics are obviously based on the UK mag p-chops but you can see the hood much better here. Not sure I buy that 18s will be stock, although if 19s are the only larger option would be 20s which is a bit much and probably larger than BMW will offer. What else "better weight distribution", better than 50-50, ugh. 0-60 around 5, .2 sec better than its predecessor, ugh, ugh, magazines... Lastly, $55k, I wouldn't hold my breath on that, but it sure would be fantastic.

I just read a recent article that compared the M5, the Audi S6, and E63 AMG Benz. The M5 was ranked 3rd.

Rumor has it that Cadillac will be introducing the new 600 HP Corvette SS supercharged V8 engine in a special edition CTS. Then again, there's the GT-R.

With multiple makes upping the ante, I hope the new M3 is up to the challenge. Perhaps a biturbo V8 version wouldn't be unreasonable to consider.

That article is so poorly written, they give no info and are stating absote guesses as facts.

So the journalist couldn't figure out idrive nor SMG and M5 gets last place? The M5 has dominated these cars in plenty of other tests. For the person wanting the best "drivers" car M5 is the hands down winner.

Hard to believe that E63 AMG was ranked higher than M5...

I believe the article he's referring to is February Car & Driver one. The M5 was a manual tranny one and was dissed primarily because the DSC cannot be turned off and prevented having too much fun, unlike in the SMG version.

Autoweek claims BMW is working on a dual clutch gearbox for the E92 M3, but the car will first be introduced with SMG or 6 speed manual. That makes me hesitatant now, to buy the first year car, since I'd get mine with SMG. I'd rather have a dual clutch box over SMG....

(And for anyone who claims a dual clutch box can't handle torque, please read the articles about the Bugatti Veyron)

I agree. I will not get SMG, but if the DSG-type transmission is 2 or 3 years out I will probably stay with a manual.

No, the manual M5 tested got its butt kicked in just about every objective test by the AMG63. Seems BMW de-contented the M5 with the manual.

Yeah, thats the Bugatti Veyron....lol we talking affordable cars here. Anything is possible with a million dollars.

Reguardless, its widely know that many DC gearboxes are prone to failure when large amounts of power are put through it. Again this is then, and maybe now they may have overcome that.

Weren't you the one claiming the new Nissan Skyline is going to have a DSG trans as well? That's not a million bucks.

The 997TT is about to come out with a DSG box. That car has over 500 lb-ft. Other 2008 model 911's will be offered with DSG. I believe Porsche is done with slushboxes (thank gawd)

BMW was late to the game......
