hit 80k
80k miles, engine runs perfectly. Oil every 5k and great care. Warranty to 100k. Should I replace bearings or weight untll 100? Or wait until I hear them? No actuator or idle control piece ever broken either and wondering if I should change those early along with a water pump and tstat ? Radiator and entire Ac system changed at 65k

I think 5K oil change is too soon I did mine at very 7500 miles.

I don't want to read this as a new E92 owner. Is this a problem on the early E9X's like it was on the early E46's ? Or is this a problem with all years?

Wilsel - Yes, there have been reports of bearing failure and if you're curious there are several threads here that detail the debates and info gathered thus far.

I just got my M and hit 76k so trying to map out what should be done. Thanks! To OP - glad to see others keeping these cars for the long haul. My E36 I purchased with 145k and it has about 245k now and runs like a champ. |

Definitely start doing that on your next change if you have not already done so and go from there. |

I have only owned the car for 3 months but I know better to warm up the oil before getting aggressive with the car. I keep it below 3.5k RPM until the oil reads around 200F. But then again I'm never really hard on the car anyways - plus I will be changing my oil every 5k miles. Now I have the peace of mind to drive the car how it is supposed to be driven (with proper warmup of course). |
