255/35 and 285/30 on ZCP wheels
possible without any issues with the ABS guys. I just ordered a 2011 E92 M3 with ZCP package and I want to up the tires to a 255/285 setup but I read on tirerack you must keep a .5" stagger difference on overall tire diamater between front and rear. I see the GTS is running this size of tires on a 19X9 and 19X10 wheel and don't see why this would be an issue with the ZCP cars. After 3.5 yrs. of owning my 997S I am actually quite excited about owning a M3 again. If I was to do it all over again I wish I never sold my 04 M3.

There are obviously lots of people interested in whether GTS size tire will fit without rubbing. If they fit fine, why didn't BMW OEM this size on M3 ZCP cars? Since the incremental cost would be low there are only 3 explanations. (1) they wanted to keep some differentiation between the GTS and ZCP, the increased width offers no material performance advantage and/or compromises wet weather performance, or (3) there is an issue with fit. If you do upsize your tires, let us know how it works out.

I know those sizes will fit without issues, my question really had to do why does tirerack say that the fronts have to be .5" shorter in overall diameter than the rears.

slightly different setup, I'm running 255/30/20, 285/30/20 on my CH-R and have no problem at all.

The car works fine with positive stagger (as delivered), no stagger or even negative stagger (my track rears are smaller diameter than the fronts). |
