+1

I for one am happy that it doesn't learn false alarms, I like to be the judge of what's a real or false threat. But I know all X-band where I am is false so I turned x off

Happy to help buddy. You can do that plus many other things. Here are the programming instructions for V1s:

That is an awesome link and it may be just because I'm high, but the programming modes in those tables are SO confusing.

I think i'll just stick with the "Big L" advanced logic.

Currently only Nevada, Oregon, and Iowa have state contracts for POP radar guns. However, POP mode may not be used in issuing citations, as the speed cannot be locked and no doppler tone is generated, a requirement for establishing a "vehicle tracking history".

As far as I know, speed cameras use K band. Red light cameras use pressure plates to activate, no radar at all.

The Escort Passport 9500IX has an updateable database of all current Speed and Red light camera locations to notify you as you get close. Plus, without a doubt, it is the lowest falsing detector I've ever used. Plus, with the Auto-Learning GPS feature it learns where other falses are that its filters don't block.

It's the oldest argument around (The V1 versus the current top of the line Escort). It's sort of like Conservative versus Liberal, you probably aren't going to convince the die-hards in either camp the other one is better, no matter how much factual data you hand them.

Yep, Liberals and Valentine users just can't be taught.

Really appreciate your input man. I've never been brand loyal of anything because things are always changing; everything has to stand on its own merits with me.
I'm seriously going to consider the Escort you mentioned before upgrading my V1, but it's also going to depend on cost. If I was paying full boat for a V1, I probably couldn't justify it anymore, but upgrade pricing is less.

Hey, I was talking about those mobile speed cameras on AZ freeways; every time I was on top of one my V1 went off but only to the first light, so I know they're using some kind of radar, but what??? Or is it laser? The fixed ones at underpasses might be magnetic, as you said, but I remember seeing my V1 go off as well; could be wrong though (memory not the same as 20 years ago ).

It's quite easy man. Once you know the version you have, you'll know what features you can program. Can't screw up; it's just a matter of remembering arrow up in ON, and down is OFF. Just print a copy of the instructions and store it inside your glove box. Take care.

There is a difference between the speed cameras and red light cameras. Any speed camera uses radar while the red light cameras are just taking a picture of you if you're in the intersection when the light is red. They aren't measuring a speed.

As far as the mobile radar cameras go, I've read on several sites that they barely light up your radar detectors, Valentine or Escort. So I'm not sure what the difference is with the signal they're using.

No, there is a new capability added to red light cameras that will measure your speed as you go through the intersection on a GREEN light. As you cross the entry and exit magnetic detectors your speed is calculated. If your going too fast a picture is taken.

Its part of the "Speed on Green" program up here in Calgary.

The only defence is the GPS marking capability in the Escort 9500 Ci/X, or maybe a lic plate cover to blur the photo( not shure how well they work, or how legal they are)

BTW I detect mobile photo radar vans from miles away with my Escort 9500i
