Hot hatch?
Since I don't know if I'll be able to afford a 335i, I've also looked at some hot hatches...
What would you recommend? So far, I think: Civic Type R, Focus ST, Golf GTI (way too common), and others... Please, compare Euro versions. |

I personally have a GTI and although I do not know much of the competition out there in Europe, I still think it's one of the best buys out there. According to reviews out there, it truly is the best all rounder that I can think of and there is no way you'll feel like you have less power than the rest.
I do however, believe the Focus ST is an excellent product made by Ford EU and I would've definitely taken the Focus under hard consideration if I lived in Europe. There is a reason why the GTI is the most common over there (to you). |

Remember that the A3 is the same chassis off from the VW GTI. In america, the GTI comes better optioned than the A3 and has a lot more standard features. I don't know about how the pricing works over there in the EU but unless you're getting the A3 over the GTI, it would have to come down to the image of things in the last few decisions.
The Mazdaspeed 3 is also nice in lieu of all this hot hatch talk. I'm not going to bash or anything, but go and take a test drive, an extensive one at best. Too many hatches out there to just easily oversee. |

European Civic Type-R for sure! It's won I-don't-know-how-many trophies in this specific class segment. I think Top Gear mag gave it hot hatch of the year as well. Just go drive them. I still say get it.
