wow, you guys are f-ing amazing. I have to say, I GOT ALL THE MARKS OUT! the whole area was about 12" or so long by about 4-5" high, i used Meguier's Swirl-X, microfiber towel application, hand buff, BOOM, I saw a difference, and i continued for about 6-7 times. BAM everything gone. So i finished it with rubbing meguiers beige bottle of fun. and now it's glossy and free of that mark!
glad i'm a m3post member, you guys are awesome!

There's a lot you can do, and after all it seems to be just a small etching in the clearcoat after water drying/being stuck on a spot for too long. I don't see how a light polish applied by hand or an orbital wouldn't remove this. Even if it doesn't, a more aggressive polish (with an orbital), in maybe a couple of steps, should remove this as well. I've had some pretty serious looking scratches on my truck from tree branches and lord knows what else, and a light polish with the right pad and pressure, followed by a finishing polish and a coat of sealant made the scratches pretty much invisible... I just can't imagine that you've tried everything possible.

All I could think about was Spies Like Us. That whole movie, but especially each scene where they find themselves in some sort of potential trouble... my God!
To the OP, I'm really glad you got it out. And I'm glad a few of the members knew exactly what it was.

I got those same marks on my old 335i after it came from the paint shop. The paint shop told me the car was covered in some plastic to prevent dust from touching the car etc. and it dried on the car while under the sun by mistake in some areas. They had to buff it out for me several times, similar to OP's method...
