Id like to pay under 50k. Also do you think its better to just pick up on a used m3 or wait for the new one thats coming out, but i feel like i shouldnt spend that much yet lol. It seems alot of people have been picking up on used m3's.

New model is coming next year late as a 2014. Details are sketchy at the moment, but the car is supposed to be revealed at Frankfurt in the spring I believe.

The key to note is it will have a turbo charged inline 6, likely with more HP and torque (450 ish) than the current normally aspirated S65 motor (414 HP).

The S65 isn't a fantastic drag racer, power comes on above 4,500 rpm when Interesting Things happen. It is quick but not say Z06 quick.

I think if you're looking for an M3 under $50k, you're going to have to consider a used one. Aside from the fact that you can't currently get a new M3 sedan, new ones start at $60k. You could wait for the introduction of the F80, but as was noted above it's still a long way off. The price on the F80 hasn't been set yet, but you have to be prepared for it to cost at least as much as the current one which means it will be out of your price range anyway.

In summary, it sounds like you should consider a used one (or increase your budget ).

Up to you. It should be possible to find a used E90 sedan DCT under 50k.

FYI in 2009 BMW upgraded the idrive substantially. I would set my sights on an 09 or 10 with 15 to 25k miles. It will have a year or two of the BMW OEM warranty left also.

Otherwise you are looking at options, such as the tech package, competition package, etc. etc. Lurk on the forums or use sites such as Edmunds.com and kbb.com to price shop what you should be paying.

Can you travel?

It will broaden your options if you can. We flew from Atlanta to Indianapolis to buy ours.

Good luck.

Just did a quick look on Cars.com..... listed 12 used M3 sedans below $50k. Most had 20,000+ miles.

BMW website shows 1 sedan under $50k.

Looks like you have some research and investigation to do. Best of luck.

Once you get your M3, give it a week or two and keep us posted on your first impressions.
I guess we all know what you are going to say, but it is like that story (or song in your case) that we enjoy listening over and over again.
