Common logic would say he's right. Hope you're not applying for a logic based program.

4 years experience as a Graphic Designer (and 1 year also worked as a Marketing Coordinator).
Focusing mostly on print design - advertising/marketing collateral, packaging design, product logos, and Point of Purchase items.

true – I'm well aware it can always be worse, that's why I realize this isn't the end of the world.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Hope it works out.

Whatever you do, try not to dip into your savings as much as possible during this time.

I remembered, as I'm sure others here do. That's why I'm suggesting it would be best not to talk numbers.

you know i never thought the most experienced people would be getting layed off, however its true "they are expensive", where i work over 10 percent of people got layed off, a company with almost 300 people, 30 were gone in a beat of a heart friday morning. Along the people were employs that had been around for 36 years, and over a dozen with over 10+

sux..

DUDE THAT SUCKS! My friend who is in design also recently was laid off.

Every day at work, myself, and the other senior level workers are always trying to 1-up on each other to show we're more valuable (in fear of layoffs!). This is madness, I know we keep it friendly, and we're all friends...but still!

As to you, good luck finding a new job, I know being unemployed sucks...it's really frickin' boring and you start to feel really bad about yourself. Just remember, you're not the only one going through rough times, many others are losing their jobs, so don't let your self-esteem take a beating because you got the boot.

Unfortunately....Welcome to the club, man.

I've been unemployed for a couple weeks now. Actually, everybody in my house is unemployed, all 3 of us.

But, we were prepared, have a few months of expenses saved up, we'll be alright I think.

As much as I get tired of going to my job every day, I am fortunate that I still have one. For all of you who got laid off, I feel for you and hope you are able to find work somewhere else. At the same time, enjoy your time off for now and do things you never had a chance to do because of your previous job.
