riM3 - Delivery - New Car Prep - First Mods Thread

Hey All -

Tomorrow morning at 9am I pick up my 2013 M3 (personal conflict prevented me from doing so today).

Specs are as follows:
6MT
Space Gray
Black Novillo
Carbon Leather Trim
Premium Package
Competition Package
Heated Seats
Enhanced Premium Sound
BMW Apps
Satellite Radio
Immediately after pick-up I'm taking it to Unique Auto Care of Wakefield, MA to have the following done:

Full Exterior Detail:
Hand wash
Clean Engine Compartment
Claybar
Degreasing
Multi-Stage Buff/Polishing
Dress Gires
Clean and Seal Windows
Xpel Ultimate Film:
Front Bumper
Complete Hood
Complete Fenders
Headlights
Rear Fender 'Splash Guard'
Rear Bumper/Trunk Strip
Full Opti-Coat 2.0 (including wheels and Xpel film)
22ple VX1 Sealant (may be duplicative w/ Opti-Coat, but they seem to be synergistic)

Afterwards (or during the film application), I'm going to swap the following parts:

Mods:
BMW Black Edition Grills
BMW Black Edition Gills
LUX V3 5000K
The only unfinished item (for now) is the Competiton Spoiler - I chose not to do a port install (as I've heard that materially increases your time at port) in favor of a dealer install. Unfortunately, I was told that Betalink is on backorder nationwide Oh well.

I plan on documenting pick-up; before, during and after-detailing and pre/post mods with my D3100. Since I know you're all picture whores...I'll start things off with my build/tracking...

Do the Comp Spoiler yourself using 3M instead. It's so easy my grandmother could do it. Betalink is almost permanent. 3M is strong to the point where it'll never fall off but it can be removed. I've read that people who used betalink who tried to remove he spoiler or splitters end up damaging the paint of the car.

Also consider getting the spoiler with a color matched stripe from a company like IND. I think it looks great. Congrats on the new ride

Quick, iPhone update... more to come!

A couple outside...

On the way to Unique Car Care... given that I was constantly loading/unloading throttle, I am impressed with mileage...

In good hands!

Hate to burst your bubble but the mpg computer is very optimistic. Do the actual math next time you fill up and you will see what I mean.

Your best bet is to speak with Rick. I can PM you his number if interested. He def knows his stuff.

I asked the dealership not to touch the car. All they did was so that the car was able to drive. They could have also left the car wrapped as well. I almost did that but didnt want to drive the car with it on for a few days. All interior seats were in plastic and doors had protective cardboard taped on it. I just dropped it off so Rick will take care of all that.

Agree - give Rick a shout; tell him we sent you and he'll hook you up.

Honestly - car looked much better than show room new when I picked it up (and I thought it looked great when I picked it up).
