0-60, 0-100, or 0-150 dont really matter except on paper. how fast can the m5 get from exit to braking zone of the next turn compared to the 991s? i would take a 100 less horsepower for a 1000 less pounds any day. equally quick and more tossable. even better just the 1000 less pounds. my m3 at even 3000lbs would be amazing.

Then I'm sure that car was severely underrated or modded because it doesnt add up. I know the PDK makes a world of difference with these cars but that seems a bit too much.

I'd rather have the lighter more tossable car as well, but we were talking about power.

yes but a lack of weight makes up for a lack of power. it figures into the equation. the rule of thumb i learned was each 100lbs is good for a tenth in the quarter mile.

I know that. The power to weight ratio is in favor of the M5 though. There is also a formula that eludes me at the moment that would give a very good idea of trap speed. plus, PDK makes a huge difference. In fact, all DCT trannys make a huge difference.

The M5 sits 4 adults in comfort and their golf bags too while scaring the crap out of them at the same time. Why are we even comparing these 2 cars? Congrats to the OP on his purchase though i felt exactly the opposite of what he felt when i test drove the 991 C2S as a replacement for my M3. At the end of the day, go with whatever floats your boat. We spend an arm and a left nut buying these cars so the car must satisfy u!! I will re-visit the 991 once they release their GT3 variant.

I test drove the 991 about 4 times, I was kinda disappointed with the car in the first 2 drives, but then I was able to take it on a couple REAL test drives and I finally understood what a fine piece of machinery Porsche has developed. I just do not feel its worth 119k. Instead I bought something that looks and feels expensive, and priced similarly a 2011 r8 v10.

Several publications have reported similar trap speeds. There's no other car manufacture that can produce those kinda times with that kinda horsepower. Even my gt3 with 90 less hp felt faster than my 525 horsepower v10 r8.

I agree but I even prefer the 'usable speed' of, say 50 - 80 or 100 mph. I absolutely love my 335d on this basis, whereas in my M3 I have to work it more.

And the M3 I believe carries some competitive speed at higher speeds vs the 911. I'm always impressed w/ the pull from 100 - 155 mph in the ///M.

M3 vs 991 CS2

Really, in what way? My early impressions are that the 991 is a pure sports car; the M3 - which I still love - is a brilliant all-rounder. If I had to choose *one* car then M3.

Have a great back-up DD, and want a car just for fun? Then hard to go past the 991 CS2.

I din like the steering feel and can't stand the sound especially the latter. I feel the sound is a huge letdown compared to the S65 with perf exhaust. Well, this is entirely subjective. Other things i didn't quite like are the skinny steering wheel and some seemingly cut price parts like the signal stalk, which u can't even option your way out of. The car handled and steered brilliantly, no question to that.
