Also might have a lot to do with just whatever dealerships order/stock, and people end up buying. Most people don't custom order cars, after all. Black is a very safe color to sell.
Probably a regional thing. same reason almost every car I see here is a convertible. people buy them as a car to drive to the beach.

I'm located in New York as well, however I've seen mostly white M3s and a fair share in black and space grey. I myself have jet black. I do agree with you that the majority of the M3s I see are convertibles. I've only seen a handful of sedans.

Wow, thats a lot of white M3's. I love the white with carbon fiber roof, but photos like this is why I am driving a MB red M3. I guess if I ever get a Ferrari probably would opt for white

Wish I could have been there to add my white M3 to the lineup. I don't care how many there are on the road, I would not want any other color for this car. Back in 2008 when I was about to order my car, I was set on getting Space Grey. But when I went to the dealer and saw the M3 brochure featuring Alpine White, I simply fell in love.

My biased opinion is that no other color shows off the lines and shapes of the car better than AW, and the contrast with the CF roof tops it all off.

I have to say though, after watching that video, i'm thinking of the getting the CF splitters too - kinda like how it changes the look of the car from the front.

I hear the same thing on this forum. White is my favorite color for cars, and I was a little upset after I heard this. However, out on the roads, I rarely ever see another white M (besides the one or two I know that live near me). In fact, M cars in general are very rare. Might see an E9X style M once every 2 weeks.

I have an AW one and I absolutely love it. First time i saw it on a BMW Advertising Video and right away I knew that's the color I wanted. IMO AW/FR/CB Roof is the best color combination for e92 M3s!

AW is for internet whores/geeks; Non-AW is for people who prefer to spend their time elsewhere.

Posts-per-day by car color would probably be telling.

I have an AW E90. I read the forums before I ordered it and noticed the same thing you mention; nonetheless, I just loved the AW too much to go for another color. Now, I'm in the Bavaria area and I've only seen one more AW (E92), then there are 3 black ones and 2 space gray.
They're nice, but not as hot as my baby, but then again, I'm biased.

AW is an iconic BMW color. I generally don't like white cars, but I love BMW's in white. Not sure what it is exactly but it's just great on the cars.

With the E92 it really sets off the CF roof.

AW was very popular with the E30 M3, Estoril Blue for the E36 M3, Titanium Silver for the E46 M3...guess it's going in full circle with the E9X M3 having AW as a popular color.

I wonder what color will be popular with the F model designation cars.

I guess alpine white is a beautiful colour for the M3. First of all in contrast with some black individual items (such as rims etc.) it really looks great.

However I ordered my M3 E90 in space grey because I want my new car as understated as possible.

Only 2 weeks to go, than the time of waiting is finally over

All depends on where you live - i've never seen an AW E90 M3 here in Germany - ive seen= 1x E90 Jerez, 1x E92 in AW and 1 x E92 Jerez..................... only 3 M3's in total and the car has been around for 4 years.

AW is a great color on any gen of M3 - I have zero regrets getting AW. In my area I see ~10 AW e9x M3s and it doesn't bother me at all!
