Post Disappointed with New Century BMW

Here is my story, my m3 is telling me to add a quart of engine oil because the oil level is at minimum. I was little worry so I called my buddy. He said it's normal and it happened to his 335 as well, just go to the dealer and they will top it off.
So I went to New Century, where I bought my car from, and told them my concern. The service advisor told me the same thing and told me to go buy a quart of oil from the part department and they will pour it in. I was lost for a second and ask him why this is not cover by BMW. He told me this is the policy for all North America dealerships and no dealerships will do it. I said" that's funny, because my friend has the same problem and South Bay BMW pour a quart in for free. then he got made and turned way. I was like wtf , I will take my business somewhere else.
I drove down to BMW at Monrovia, and guess what they did, they top it off for free.
New Century BMW can kiss my business goodbye.

Interesting. I had to buy a quart as well. They told me they would cover only change of oil not topping off.

Surprised other placed did top off though! New century has been one of the better dealerships in socal. I had lots of bad experiences at Monrovia, formerly Assael BMW.

That dealership was literally trying to screw you over.....

I go to BMW of North Scottsdale and if my car yells at me to add a quart of oil I just drive into the service area and they pop my hood and pour it in. No questions asked no checking the key fob except as of recently they now have to take my car to the service bay to do it.... Must be some policy with BMW. It still only takes a minute so no complaints on that.

You should never have to buy anything to maintain your BMW... That's why they have the plant in the lobby with the sign saying " This cost more to maintain then a BMW."

Glad you told that stealership off

please don't take this the wrong way, topping off is NOT cover by BMW of North America. I just wanted to find out why other dealer did it for my friend but he just turned away. I guess its nice to see dealers take the extra step instead of telling u that's the policy take it or loose it, especially when the car is less than one year old and cost 70,000.

If your dealership wants to let a $14 bottle of oil stand in the way of your next $60,000 + purchase then that's their loss.

nope, burning engine oil not cover by warranty. Shelly BWM give me 1st time a bottle for free, 2nd time they ask me to go buy a bottle. However... when i call the SA they said Come over, we will take care that. I didn't know that "take Care" was meant by "U go get a bottle, we pour in for you"

If they did an oilchange for you a few days earlier prior to this happening they SHOULD top it off for you, but if your oil is low for driving (burning oil) then I would say its up to the owner to top it off. just my two cents.
But i know what your saying, kinda weak of them not to since you drove there and everything. Glad they were nicer at monrovia. Maybe ought to check it out one day but I've heard bad things about pretty much all dealership so I don't know what to think anymore.

It's not actually covered? Wow my dealership spoils me. I guess combined my family has purchased 10 cars from that dealership so I guess they are thinking along the lines that fstop is thinking?

If the car is TELLING YOU to pour more oil, it should be covered. END OF STORY. If the oil is a little low and you want it topped off, then it's up to you.

I would complain to BMWNA with this arguement.

+1 especially when the light comes on and the car tells you, you need more.

You guys are cry-babies . Do you want to feel better? How about no loaners, no topping oil off, and $25.99 for EACH bottle of TWS 10/60 (yes, you read that right)? But I'm sure K&Y Jelly was included . Oh, and closest option is 300 miles away.

Okay, who wants to keep complaining now? Needless to say, I'll keep buying my parts and accessories from Tischer .

There is a reason why we call them STEALERS, not dealers.

They all suck IMO.

Many dealerships short a quart of oil during an oil change. The charge you for the bottle and not put it in. 100% profit! Assholes.

New Century has usually been pretty good to me. I too was surprised when I had to buy the quart of oil, but I did.

For sure New Century is worlds better than Crevier. The people who run the service department at Crevier are unbelievable.
