Amp Remote

I'm in the process of installing an aftermarket sub amp and am trying to source a switched 12v signal for the amp remote. I have an 08 e93, no nav and no eps. In past cars, I've successfully wired into the cigarette lighter, is there any reason why this shouldn't be done in the M?

So before the search Nazis start flaming, I've read all about pin 13 and the LC2i, but I am unsure if this signal can be routed directly to an amp. What voltage is this signal and is it ignition switched?

Ideally I'd like to tap something in the trunk, any suggestions. Would it be advisable to add a relay in line?

Thanks.

If you're looking for something in the trunk, did you read this yet? http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...3&postcount=49

Real searching should have shown that another OEM remote signal is at pin 10 at the HiFi OEM amp connector.

Better use an 1A fuse on that line because if you blow it you will be damaging the OEM HU internals.

Thanks for the info. Sorry, I guess I need to learn how to do "real searching". You know, whats the point of an open forum if half of the posts are complaints about people asking legitimate questions, regardless if they have been asked before. If I wanted to spend weeks reading every single post in this forum then I'd never have time to work on and enjoy the car. Is this how you treat a fellow BMW enthusiasts in person, tell them to search the internet whenever they ask you something? What ever happened to common courtesy for a fellow member.

Anyhow, Stepping off my pedestal, and will provide something helpful for anyone else in the same boat. I was successful in wiring up my JL 250/1 (all within the trunk) by tapping +12V on the battery, Gnd on one of the battery to chassis ground points, speaker level inputs at the factory amp, and as for the remote, it seems that the JL amps have a signal sense that turns on the amp the amp after a few seconds of the radio being on, and turns off after 25 seconds of silence, which is plenty of delay that it doesn't turn off accidentally. Also, fyi, I'm running a single JL 10W3 (latest version, V3?) and sounds pretty good! If anyone has any questions, I'd be glad to answer them, without criticizing your search skills! =P

Still need to clean up the install, but I'll try to post some pics if anyone is interested.

Actually, I do if I know that the answer has been already posted somewhere.

If you can find any type of porn known to man (or whatever rocks your boat) then you can search for "remote turn on signal" in this forum.
