To see what what looks like? The last image shows the wheel and the wheel studs. I don't have my new wheels or lug nuts yet.

I had RE30's on my E46 M3 and I loved them. They looked so goofy without studs. you're going to love them and in Champion silver on LMB you can't go wrong.
I'm kind of jealous
It is in the title. I went with the shorter Vorshlag kit to make sure a closed end lug nut would fit over the stud. I went with the BBS kit from Turner Motorsports on my E46 and they were way too long for a closed end lug nut and they didn't have the hex head to make installing them a breeze. I always put my lugs on by hand so there is no need to worry about cross threading them.

I think it has been explained. 95% of the cars on the roads come with wheel studs and not wheel bolts. Because you have the studs sticking out it is alot easier to mount your wheels versus only having the hub to hold the wheel up while you struggle to get a wheel bolt in. The other advantage is that you can run some sweet looking aftermarket lightweight lug nuts to accent your wheels.

Originally we were told that they would be getting some M3 offsets in months ago, but they only ended up getting +35s for the front which I didn't want. So I have been told I should have them by the end of the month but when it comes to Mackin and Volks I don't have much faith anymore. I waited for 6 months for a set of Volks for my E46 that never came. Check out this e-mail from a Mackin employee:

"After talking with the factory in Japan, they have informed us that the reason for the delay is due to the quantity being made. Rays Wheels requires a minimum of 40 pieces each size to make with customer colors. This means they have to make 40 fronts and 40 rears. And this wheel you are asking for is a custom color and lug pattern.

They said they let our purchasing department know but no one informed me about this. If your customer is willing to wait, then I can push the factory to make these. Otherwise we may have to find another wheel for your customer. "

So after 6 months they said we were never gonna make your wheels but we will get you some other ones. Now you got me all fired up again. I have THE worst luck with wheels, yet this will still be my third set of Volks. I still love them for the price, but getting them and having them fit is a pain in the ass.

Of course you can use locking lug nuts, but they aren't any easier to steal than the OEM wheel bolts. I don't believe in locking lug nuts although most aftermarket lugs use a key of some kind that does make it slightly harder to steal without the key. Bottom line is if someone wants your wheels they are going to get them. A hammer and the right socket will get just about any wheel lock off.

its good to hear there is a lock but your right unfortunatley. If someone is set on stealing them they are going to do it regardless of locks or not

If you put locks on lug bolts that defeats the entire point of getting them

Ever heard of a Vice grip? Wheels locks are useless they just buy your wheels some precious time.

Sorry to hear about the issues with Volk/Rays. I've seen people wait anywhere from (once order is placed) 3-months (that's extremely rare though) to 9-months w/them. It really is out of Mackin Industries control (unless they wanna pay for 40 or so sets like you said). The only way to get them sooner (after they are manufactured) is if you want them air freight which is boo-coo $$$ as you know. I've gone thru 4 sets of Volks & never regretted each one. Good luck w/whatever you do & keep us updated.

Gotta say, I do not see the point of this mod other than maybe saving a few seconds when changing wheels and the look is not as clean. But hey, looks like you did a solid install!

Yeah I followed the instructions and torqued them. Once in there with red locktite they aren't coming out.

It isn't for most who like their car to remain stock. It will be worth it when I have my Volks and sweet looking lugs.

Its a great mod if you spend alot of time swapping wheels on your car. (TRACK/AUTOX) It saves way more then a few seconds w/ the impact gun.
