PDR and drilling
I had a door ding on the rear quarter panel (right on the body line) and the PDR guy was able to completely remove it, but he drilled an access hole in my door jamb without telling me beforehand that he was going to do that. The hole was plugged with rubber/silicone. I'm concerned about rusting issues in the future. Have any of you had long-term experience with holes plugged this way with cars in the past? TIA

Not to rub it in, but I would be WTF?!
Where on the body line was the dent located? Closer to the rear or the door. I could see him doing if it were near the door, but even then I've been told there is access through the wheel well (wheel is removed obviously) or through the trunk (tail light removed). Now if he had to drill, he said best place to do it is through the wheel well with the door jamb being the absolute last resort. Anyway, what's done is done, but I still feel it was unacceptable for him to drill without informing you and you certainly should have asked questions and watched him perform the job.

Never ever perform PDR by drilling....only a hack would perform a proceedure like that when performing his paintless dent removal service. From what I heard from my local dealer was that BMW warranties on Body and or paint could be voided from PDR that is performed by hacks. They stated that the shavings that accumulate from drilling can cause rust where they gather in panel. Also since bare metal is exposed at the drill site, it can also rust prematurely since the coatings (seal, primer, base and clearcoat)have been broken.

What a lazy moron. You should only not pay him, but charge him the difference to fix it. I'd go to a specialized bodyshop and try to get it plugged (metal, not paste). That's why I rather walk than risk a ding... plus it's good for your health . Good luck.
