Hi,
I have ordered an Akra slip on, however now I am wondering if I shouldn't have ordered the Evo. The slip on has not arrived yet, so I can change my order. I'm just afraid that the slip on will be too quiet and that I won't be happy with it. On the other hand I have a few concerns about the Evo. The first thing is that the car is only 3 months old. I just don't want to have problems with My warranty. The second thing is the delete-r. I've heard of a case where the deleter also cleared not only the CEL, but also other error indications which can lead to engine failure and damage. Do I need to worry about that? The other alternative is to get the ESS tune, but then even if I flash back to stock, BMW will be able to see that I have made changes. What do you think about the delete-r or should I go with the ESS tune? Or should I stay on the safe side with the slip on as long as I have guarantee. Thank you very much for your help! Greetings from Germany! Iliya |

+2 - try the axle-back first, buy the x-pipe if it's not loud enough. Whether you buy them separately or together the price is basically the same. Enjoy

The slip on sounds almost just like stock, get the evo and the tune, it's a day and night difference and most dealerships won't give you crap

I've known my advisor for awhile. I was honest with him and told him I'm thinking of ordering the Akra Evo and a tune (ESS), how would he handle it, should I flash it back to stock before bringing it in blah blah. He said just let him know how the car was modified and he would give the techs the heads up. Not every advisor will respond the same way, but he spoke as if I wasn't the only one that modifies the car in that way and didnt warn me about doing it. I ordered the Evo a few hours later and I'll order the tune early next week. Am I totally safe against having my warranty voided? No, but this should be worth the small risk, I can't wait to have it installed.

I have the full Akrapovic Evolution + Velos Designwerks Tune & I absolutely love the sound of the exhaust... I was sold on this exhaust system from day one being @ the Welt for my Euro delivery & seeing it on a GT4... Then when the owner turned it on it was like music to my ears... I didn't bother with the delete R as the Tune would fix my check engine light...

If you are worried about the tune and the dealer leave stock redline and top speed limiter in place.

Evo + ESS tune is the way to go, if money is not an issue order the whole system
As Untouchable mentioned on his post, talk to your BMW SA and you will be on the safe side when bringing your car for maintenance

Fair warning. As long as you don't have a major driveline failure dealers will usually ignore a cat delete and other such goodies. You will get your power mirror fixed, that piece of trim that fell off gets repaired. Have a major failure in the driveline such as a blown trans/engine etc it isn't even in the dealers hands. A regional rep will come in and look at the car before the repair is authorized or any parts sent. These people don't sell cars, don't care how good a customer you are, they have no mercy. Their job is to look for things like a high flow cats, cat deletes, etc and they are well trained. If they find any one of the things on their uh-uh list your warranty repair will be denied. The only way the dealer can get the parts at that point even if they want to do the warranty for you will be at their cost for parts. Try and guess just how many dealers are going to swallow a new engine for your car? Very few people are THAT good of a customer.
There are a lot of modders here which is common on major car forums. You keep hearing people talking about mod X like its the best thing to come along since boobs and pretty soon you start thinking, "I gots to get me some of that". You post about it and are encouraged by those who have done it. Next thing you know there you are and mod X is now on your car. If the worst happens and you have just had a major failure the dealer will tell you they cannot warranty the car. They are mod friendly just like they said but they cant get it authorized. So sorry, its just a damn shame. Post about your predicament here and the same people on this forum that said go for it will tell you they are very sorry to hear about your misfortune, they will not however send money. On that very same thread someone will eventually chime in saying something along the lines of "well you knew you were taking your chances" and they will be right. An old saying in corvettes is that no one should mod their car unless they are prepared to be and financially capable of being their own warranty station. Its true with any new car and more so with a BMW where parts can be hideously expensive. I am currently contemplating supercharging and I have killed the warranty on every car I have owned in the last several decades so I suppose I make a poor cheerleader for the keep it stock crowd but I did it eyes open. I never got hit with a major bill and this was not luck but rather the opposite. I didn't get unlucky. You or anyone else is extremely unlikely to face a major failure of the type I am talking about on a higher flow mid section alone because you are not adding much power. This leaves the probability of failure close to or the same as stock. Just so long as you know if you win the bad luck lottery its going to be ugly and are prepared to deal with that outcome then by all means enjoy. |

Listen man, I think it's really simple. Go loud.
You can always make the exhaust quieter if you go loud. However if you don't go loud, I guarantee you will constantly be wishing you could see what it's like. BTW for reference - I have an Eisenmann Race. When I purchased it I was worried it would be too loud, and sometimes it actually is. But most of the time, it's heavenly and I would not trade it for everything. So unless your worried about something other than the tone (i.e. CEL), give the EVO a go!

But to be honest, those who are truly worried about warranty shouldn't get into this game. I got my vishnu/ meth yesterday, have catless x pipe and will be supercharging soon. I know who is to blame when stuff blows up.. Me. |

I just got my Akra slip-on and installed it yesterday, but I'm really disappointed to the outcome. It's totally too QUIET.
I was running with Remus Race with FabSpeed X-pipe and the sound is really good but my fiancee complained about the drone and the loudness, so I decided to get the Akra slip-on. Unfortunately, the outcome is totally disappointed. Don't know whether it's because I'm used to the Remus Race or because this combination's problem. The reason I don't wanna get full Evo is as same as the original poster... the CEL. Can anyone help me out? What can I do to make the sound louder with the Akra slip-on? Thank you guys!!
