Transporter damaged car
Well, I finally got my car shipped from Ohio; only drove it for roughly 10 miles so the wait was killing me. After getting the call from the transporter saying that he was just 10 minuets away, I cleared everything from the garage, just to make a spot for the newcomer. As he turned the corner, the damage stood out like a shore thumb. From far away it looked like dirt/dust but as he pulled closer, I saw it was scratched and the paint peeled off. The second he stepped down from his truck, I didn't even let him have a chance to give an excuse. I told him, "There was damage done to my car I need it fixed." Without hesitation he said, "It wasn't me..." I couldn't believe this guy. Well I said, "When I signed the papers in Ohio, it clearly stated that when the customer gives the key(s) to the driver its 'our responsibility' to keep your car 'safe'." Then he started saying some BS, excuse about the weather. So I said to him, "Before I get lawyers involved, I suggest calling your supervisor right now and tell him what kind of damage you've done to my car." In shame he put his head down and got his phone out. Within a couple hours, I get a lovely phone call from the transportation company saying, "Please, sir we don't want any legal action, we'll pay for the damages." Sheesh, what a day... but I'm glad its going to taking care of. Only bad part is, I finally get the car in my hands and I have to give it off to someone else, again. Anyways, here are some pictures...

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph! That sucks! Just make sure you take it to a first rate body shop for the painting, and when you get your car back, check your windows and rims for paint overspray.
Sorry to hear about that.

been there....
I was involved with a professional piano mover who totally dropped a brand new 7 foot concert grand piano---fell from its side onto the floor!
It suffered a huge crack in the finger board...sound board was OK thank goodness....it was easily repaired....their insurance paid. These things happen. That piano is valued as much as a loaded 330. |

I had the same problem shipping from SC to HI. I went to the shipping company to pick up our new vw Jetta and 04 Envoy XUV. Well to make a long story short they both were damaged. VW had $3k and the Envoy had about $1500 in damages. The Jetta was containerized, but shipped with an auto transport. When I go back to the mainland I will drive my cars back to wherever the Army sends me. I feel your pain!

Thanks guys! I drop it off to the shop this Friday. I would imagine they would keep it until the middle of January sometime, because of Christmas and New Years.

Synikal, that sucks. Hold that transporter company responsible for every dime it takes to get it back to new. Don't sign any docs (sign away your rights to sue) until you are happy.
Just curious, why did you only drive the car for 10 miles before shipping from Ohio to Arizona? Was it an internet/fly-in to test drive purchase? Also, do you know if the car was covered by your insurance during the transportation? Just curious if you have a second checkbook to pay repairs in case the transportation company drags their feet. |
