Cold start cat heat cycle removal (for smoother cold starts)

ESS tune - what exactly is a "smoother" cold start?

with akra evo, the first 45 sec or so after any start is very loud (w/ tune).

It's a night and day difference as far as loudness for the first 45 seconds. It might have gotten left out in your file.

It's the difference between having neighbors that want to key your car if you leave early in the morning, and neighbors appreciating what an awesome vehicle you have

Yep, keeps your dishes from falling off the counter when you crank up in the morning.

ok - it's def loud but it's not obscene.

after 45 sec or so, it kicks down into the normal idle range where it's very quiet. do you guys still the get the 45 sec or so of general loudness?

I have the cold start removed and it idles at a bit higher RPM for 45 seconds or so and then settles down to 700 RPM from there on out.

Completely depends on your setup. Even at idle, I'd say my car is already pretty loud. Plus with cold start sequence, the car just runs smoother the first couple of minutes (i.e it doesn't buck like the stock tune)

Are any of you guys supercharged? I have the 625 kit and ess said removal of the cold start cycle isn't recommended..? Sucks because the car is very loud even with stock exhaust and test pipes. I get a lot of looks leaving the office..

I have a evolve supercharger and they removed my cold start no problem. I bet Ess will do the same....

The cold start is there for emissions reasons. It warms up the cats faster and eliminates pollution, the cats are more efficient when hot.... since most of us are catless, including me, its useless now and just makes a lot of noise.

No, I do not. My setup was obscene the first time I started the car after the new exhaust setup, and prior to the cold start delete....even w/a UUC Corsa to help keep the sound down. Night and day difference after CSD. Before, I felt bad for my neighbors, seriously. Now, I don't feel like an @$$hole.

I run a SC and ESS told me it would not cause any problems and removed mine, and yes it was EXTREMLY loud with test pipes and AA exhaust. Now it just purrs when cranked , rpm does not vary either.
Did sound freaking sweet cranking up at gas stations though, I straight up had people cheer when when I pulled off from getting gas coming back from Flordia.

It's part of the mss60 file, It won't work with a BMtechnic cable you will need an actual tune.
Try BPM tune, its all remotely done once they send you the cable. All you need is a laptop plus you will get tons of other options as well as of course extra hp/torque.
Mike will walk you through all of it on the phone

Cold start is pretty much worthless to me especially since I'm running a catless setup now.

I've got the 625 kit and have the cold start removed by the ESS tune.

I'm catless with a VF620 and it is very quiet with the cold start removed.

i watched it this morning - 1100 rpm or so (loud) until it shifts down to 700 rpm (comparatively quiet).

i think ess left it in because the akra evo isn't catless.

I would ask them to remove the cold start. I'm running stock cats and have it removed on my ESS tune. It's purely just to heat the cats up for emissions reasons, it won't hurt anything to remove it (other than the environment).
