any body know why sedan will not have CF?

Mark, got any more photos like the one you posted above?
Anyone else notice the bulge on the coupe hood looks more like the one first seen on the sedan, more spread out. Sure hope it goes to production like that.

I think it may just be the angle and the fact that the white color doessn't define the hump as much as red or other colors.

Check the photos on that thread. The CF roof is standard. The test mules are running coverup on the roofs which is clearly evidenced in the third photo down.

Thankyou will be able to get to sleep now, everything is looking good, initially i thought there would only be seatin for two at the rear but that looks like it will def be 3, and now it looks like the CF will be standard!!

hey guys the white car was just a test car mots likely after the tests wont be able to drive anymore but i have original brochure from bmw and its says that cf roof comes standard on two door and 4 door is not possible i dont know why but its says like that

hopefully must be diffrent in US, i asked dealer he still says no spec on 4 door
i asked if he knew anything bout the roof or anything regarding the spec and he said we have no info on the 4 door as yet nothing even internally apart from the basics doors engine etc, but is sending more detailed info on the coupe,
so i am still hoping.

but is quite strange you have a brochure talking bout the 4 door when we in the uk are getting official brochures for coupes inc specs and prices but no mentin of 4 door?

The sedan WILL NOT have a CF roof.

The white car in this thread is a test car with a disguised CF roof.

It even has chrome around the windows and this is not an option on production cars. So do not read anything into this picture.

How much is it worth to those of us that are considering the E90 M3? I love that cf roof, but would feel stupid paying 2k for it as an option to save 12 lbs.

Look at the price difference between the M5 and the M6.


Not a chance is the E90 going to be the same price as the E92.

I would agree with you. Interestingly, I believe the e36 M3 sedan was more than the coupe.

Anyways, sedan lovers do not deserve a CF roof- let them enjoy their girly girl, powder puff sunshine, and breeze, it brings out their feminine side....

In my case it would be practicality and insurance cost, and cost. Personally, I think sunroofs are a waste. It's heaving and cuts into an already limited headroom. How about a painted steel roof at an even a lower cost, now how practical would that be for the girly powder puff sedanees? Still love the contrast and lightness of the carbon roof.

The only way you won't have a CF roof on either car is if you order a moonroof.

wrong. there has been nothing confirming this. in fact the language that has been thrown around in several articles is "bmw intends to incorporate a carbon fiber roof into all upcoming M coupes".... not "all upcoming M's."
