I know that you can increment the estimated mileage to service for the brakes without resetting it. Resetting would most likely mean the indicator would go back to 25000 miles. I think incrementing can be done in 5000 mile steps. Let us know if you try the procedure in the above link.

This didn't work for me btw with my brake pad replacement. I replaced all of the pads. As the sensors weren't tripped, I just put them back. I did the reset of the front and back brakes and got a change brake pads immediately message? There was no such message before I did the reset. I am going to see about clearing the code and see if that does it. It is possible I broke a sensor when putting it back together but they all seemed fine. So weird!
