I had a 2011 LCI e93 following me on saturday at 4pm. I first I thought it was an enthusiast with a modified angel eye but when the car drove next to me, it was a late 50's gal with dealer plates on the car still.

The 2011 factory setup is AMAZINGLY bright. Someone should figure out a cost-effective way to retro-fit the post-LCI angel eye into the pre-LCI headlamps.

I'm very very curious - is it the rings, the bulbs, or both.

Everyone says it costs too much to actually do it. but nobody ever actually tried it. It might not be as hard as it seems.

you do know the headlight assembly alone will cost over 3k..
thats not including new bumper, hood, possibly fenders.

not swap out the entire headlamp, just take the angel eye components. so no need for the HID ballast, fender, bumper replacement, etc.

i prefer the shape of the pre-lci, seems more streamline and elegant but post-lci angel eye is to lust for.

you can't buy the component alone, you have to buy the whole headlight, and there is no way to have to just swap out the rings, the structure of the rings are also different, as is where the bulbs are located etc.

can anyone comment on why the 5800 gp's would be dimmer than the 7500s?? It was mentioned in this thread a few pages back. I am getting rid of my 8500s for either the 7500 or the 5800- whichever is brighter & more visible....

I ordered a pair of the Alpine HID's from Alex, 8000k...

I won't be back for another month about, but you can guarantee the first free chance I get I will be putting these puppies on.

I will take before, halfway (half stock, half Alpine), and after shots and post them up here.

Thanks to Alex for his excellent customer service so far!

Healight Halo Yellowing

I just had to replace both my headlamp assemblies due to extreme yellowing of my inner halo plastic/fiber optic. I do believe that this was due to running HID halos. I love the look but afraid that putting HIDs back in would cause the problem again.

For those that have HIDs, please take a look at your car with the halos and headlights off. Do your inner rings looks yellow compared to the outer rings. I was running the HIDs for a little over a year and it yellowed the rings.

One more piece of information: just replaced my 8.5K GPs with 7.5K GPs due to one failing at just 3K miles, and they look the same to me. Should have done a side-to-side comparo but didn't occur to me at the time. The 8.5Ks didn't look purple at all, like some claim. Maybe a tad more bluish, but again, I didn't notice a difference. The 8.5Ks look better made, just like stock, with the 7.5Ks looking like they were made in a garage. The true test will be if they last longer than 3K miles; we'll see. Hope this helps.

Agree that the 8500k GP's don't look purple at all! They look perfect but wish they were just a little bit brighter!

And they're only $20. They're plenty visible, just like stock, but with whiter rather than yellow color. Don't understand why people want them brighter if they're DRLs not feaking headlights, which basically detract from the awesome lines of the car IMO, but to each his own .
Could u pls send me a link from where to get these bulbs and how to change those.
Thanks

I personally don't "get" the whole angel eye mystique brightness thing. I mean, for brightness I turn on the damn headlights. But for daytime running lamps all you're looking for is a little accent around the grill. Better light distribution between the inner and outer ring is the only concession I would make towards getting the higher-end lights (Aib, LUX. etc), but not for the $$$!

I JUST finished putting in my GP Thunder 7500ks. They look GREAT! Very white color, cost me literally $14 and took 10 minutes to install. Now they do dim down with the main headlights come on, and the color could be a little "whiter"--in hindsight I would go with the 8500k--but this was just the simple solution I needed.
