Brighter instrument needles

One of the less ergonomic aspects of the E9x M3s is the way in which the instrument needles become quite difficult to see in shadows (i.e. when it is bright daylight outside the car), especially if you are wearing sunglasses.

I find this is definitely a problem when trying to rev match on downshifts, as the engine is so quiet (like inaudible if you have music on) and glimpsing the tacho needle in my peripheral vision is pretty difficult.

Therefore, I would like to suggest a nice set of bright needles - preferably dayglo orange or red.

Does anyone make anything like this for retro-fitting?

If not - I hereby claim my patent rights!

Ermm, I am talking about daytime. Night time, with the instruments lit up, is no problem

I'd have liked bright red needles too, but it's not enough of an issue for me to do anything about it. Keep us posted.

You need the performance steering wheel.

Does that make the needles brighter in daylight then?

I know it has shift lights but that is not what I need - I can definitely hear the engine at 8k.....

I don't have an issue seeing my needles. I actually like the way BMW does the instrument panel.
