Yeah, I noticed the lack of a garage door opener and they lost a sale at the time - because of the engine problems with my 2007 335i I had an opportunity to upgrade. This time I got caught because the nets show up on the USA website for 2010 and they're in the 2009 CDN brochure.

I did figure out a fix for that oversight just like this guy did for his BMW bike

I have a 2009 E90 M3. I have never paid attention to see if I have a net and I don't have a garage door opener. It takes me about 15 seconds to get out of the car, open/close the door and then get back in the car. I saved in excess of $1000 for the garage door. I can use that saving to put extra gasoline in the car.

it's a Canadian tradition isn't it? we always get less features and pay more price. oh, and the government is blaming that there are too many people doing cross border shopping? I say screw you canadian retailers for your ridiculously unreasonable merchandise prices! You leave us no options but to send more cash down to the states!

Actually, the Canadian M3s - and 3s in general - have been upcontented to maintain the pricing. BMW are using an $.85 dollar which is a pretty accurate reflection of the loonie's current buying power - regardless as to where it's trading on a given day.

so you dont have an automatic garage door, that has nothing to do with the your M3 not having Homelink? IM confused

by the way, my 2008 now has the Homelink mirror. My friends 328 cab was going back from its lease, and I took out her mirror, put it in my car and gave her my mirror. Simple swap, took about 45 seconds

CND: $69900

It's actually .78 they are using
and I don't recall when was the last time Canadian dollar ever was down to that point.

Not to mention we pay almost 2 times more on freight & PDI (the dealership I bought my car charged $2995 when others charge $2295) and we also get less standard features such as brake/clutch/wipers warranty, garage opener, split armrest, and OP mentioned the seat-back net.

oh yeah! and you pay $22/L of 10w60 when lots of cases you pay USD$10/L down south.

anyways, for myself, I try to avoid spending my money on canadian retailers now if possible.

That's why I had my car shipped from the US last year when I bought it. The Canadian car was about $15,000 more at the time and the dollar was on par. With shipping, taxes, and speedo swap, I still saved myself $10,000.

Oh yeah, I got a seat back net, split armrest, and homelink garage opener too!

Canadian retailers are a rip off for just about everything!

The base represents the pricing BMW Canada is protecting. You need to option the cars to do a real comparison. On my coupe it came out to $.85.

a full load sedan(with every single option + freight&PDI) is $88590 + taxes & fees

a full load sedan(with with all options,freight&PDI & gas guzzler tax) is $72405 + tax

it's around 0.81 still

I am sure with different area/dealership, incentive, and discount, things can turn out differently but don't forget, down usa they get even better discount in most of the cases.

I also understand it is different situation for everybody, some guy I know even paid 135000 + tax for a GTR and he thinks it's totally worth every penny out of his pocket.

lol! not just on cars. everything is a big rip off, clothing, watches, and so on.

the only thing that I find which is cheaper is probably a PS3 because we are paying $299.99 and they are pay $299.99 too but after taxes, I think it's all the same again.

Wait till you look in your trunk - I only have two ties down points available on my 2010 E90. Both by the trunk latch closest to the rear bumper. I used to bungie cord everything down. Can't anymore .....

I have a US spec M3 - I don't have the nets on my seats either -

First off, I dont mean to be rude.

But no wonder Maranello was giving you so much trouble when your tranny fell apart!

If it was purchased through them or was bought through BMW Canada (any other retailer for that matter), things may have been smoother, just a thought

Secondly, there are benefits with buying from Canada.

1. Free maintenance comes only with Canadian cars also.

2. Attractive Leasing/Financing Options (Maybe doesnt matter for people who are paying cash, but still).

3. canadian vehicle will be hassle-free when it comes time to trading-in and selling the vehicle.

4. Service Inclusive, which covers wear and tear items (full brakes, clutch, drive belts, and many other components etc.) can be purchased on canadian vehicles and be honored anywhere in canada.
I understand US cars come standard with this, but no dealer here honors the maintenance+wear-tear plan here. They will only honor warranty

Because in the end of the day, if you purchase a US vehicle, then you need to sell it there too in order to realize true savings!
Otherwise, the initial savings on purchasing will be washed out when you trade or sell it here in canada

P.S.
My older 745Li also suffered a lot of problems, and trust me it was a lot worse then what you even remotely experienced.

Lets see, the engine failed, tranny failed, differential and several other components in suspension failed.

However, we did not feel so troubled because BMW Mississauga took such good care of us.
BMW Canada actively took a role, because it was in there best interest to look after there customer, and they did!
Also, no complaint was ever overlooked, all these components were changed with no-hassle what so ever.
The owner loaned his own 7 series whenever ours went in the shop!
And check this out, this 745Li was purchased from T&C.
Eventually after such good service, we started buying our cars from Mississauga, 760Li Individual, M3 and so on!

M3s are a relative bargain in Canada. The U.S. is the most competitive car market in the world, and we benefit from being next door.
