People get very brave being obnoxious with the protection of a username and the internet. There'd be a lot more people landing on their asses if they spoke to people in real life the way they think they can on here. Sad really. OP: Enjoy the car and just go easy on your first few attempts on sliding just like you would with any new car while you're getting used to it. |

To the OP, i suggest checking out the BMW CCA in your area: http://www.rmcbmwcca.org/
and sign up for one of the car control clinics or driving school events. You'll get to experience and test how fast you can go when your tail breaks loose as well as other important techniques in a safe and controlled environment. I did a car control clinic with my DCT and was able to experience whipping the tail around in the skidpad as well as controlling it with DSC off. Plus, you'll have a blast! |

The only benefits of a manual, is that you have bit more control of what direction the car is going. DCT is for mostly going straight, and the manual is for turns..

You will definitely be lacking control with the DCT. In my E46 I used to be able to drop it into second around corners, blip the throttle, quickly disengage the clutch and you get a very nice and controlled slide.
Hrmm...I really miss having a 6 speed car. |
