DAB Digital Radio

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to know if anyone has done a retro fit for DAB Digital Radio in their E9x in Australia. If so, what's needed?

I was just thinking about this today after going for a drive in dads F10. It's so annoying that my car is newer but doesn't get DAB.

Was this an option I missed or was it never available for e9x's in Aus?

My M3 is only a few months old and there wasn't an option when I ordered.

It is not possible to retrofit mainly due to antenna wiring set up. This has been discussed extensively on this board.

Really? searched high and low, and couldnt find anything that really related to Australia. I believe that we use a different system here?

regardless of the system it's not possible. It was not related to Australia but DAB in general. Even the guys who do retrofits haven't explored this due to complexity of the install. Simply put it, it won't work.

Oh well, thats a shame. I had a loaner 335i with DAB, and it was awesome. So many channels and bascially commerical free non-stop music. Was loving the 80s channel.

I rarely turn the radio on anymore - that engine gives me all the sound I need

Yeah I know what you mean. I optioned the BMW high end individual audio in my build, and I haven't really used it. The V8 sounds so damn good.

With the sweet sounding Harman Kardon punching out the FM ...don't see how digital would be any better...cheers...
