I know most on the forum won't believe me on this but I know this result was not a fair reflection of either of the two cars involve. I may have an Audi and will also defend their abilities, especially in wet conditions, this is in no way to run down what BMW cars are like as all rwd car, within reason perform similarly in these conditions, it's just that it's much harder to put the power to the surface when you only have two wheels to work with.
You may find this even harder to believe but back when this was wrote, Autocar were very much a Pro-BMW magazine, never did any other brand apart from Porshce or Ferrari win against them. I don't know if the head editor has changed but there has been a shift in their position to BMW and more and more other brands are winning reviews. In fact they have been very out-spoken on the new M3, feeling that it's not the car it was. Personally I don't agree with them on this and feel it's a much more complete car than any model the previously carry the M3 badge but that's me. I defy anyone to drive their M3 or any rwd 3series down a twisty wet road as fast as my S5 will go and I know it's based on a newer chassis than the S4, but I know the differences between the two are slight when it comes to overall ability, only their behaviour has really changed not how well they handle. |

Thank you south! At least they are still good tyres even if not quite as hardcore as the Cup rubber.

Thanks but I tried Tire Rack months ago but they don't have the correct dimensions. They sell the cup tires but not in the specs of the F19" 245/35 R19" 265/35.
I should have mentioned that in my previous post sorry.

Done 2000 miles on my pilot cup * tyres in the Shi!!*iest weather here in blighty - amazing tyres, lots of fun in the wet when the throttle is nailed with all electronic gizmos on and front end grip keeps surprising me....
In the one day where it was bone dry, I could have eaten anyone who dared to take me on! That's how confident I am in them. Who cares if they will only last 5k miles. I already got another set |
