Good reasons for requesting software update by dealership?

Any tips on ways to request the dealership to update software on e9x to latest software without being charged. I'm not asking for a map update, but system software for the car.

Thanks,
Pesh

I had my July 2008 e93 updated yesterday (first time in 20months, since they first properly fixed the DCT lag problem). I phoned my dealer last week and mentioned that my car "fluffed and popped around while on cold start and early warm up" and also complained that it "occassionally missed DCT paddle gear changes".

Having left the car with them the night before, yesterday they called me back and said they'd tested the car, and couldn't find any problems that I'd mentioned with the gear box (strange), but that there was a software update available and they would update the car before testing it again. Picked the car up yesterday evening but haven't had a chance to test it properly yet. According to others though, more recent software updates have improved the DCT gear box further.

Hope that helps you, at least you have something to 'mention' to the dealer so that they take a look.

if is not a manadotory recall or an acute problem ( like going wrong) then is considered a extra thing to do. $250 dollars. I used to pay that just for a freaking service for my regular Infiniti suv. So i dont mind it so much.

Can you Paypal me $200 please?... Just thought I'd ask as you seem pretty happy to part with your cash
