John Hwe Photography | LTBMW Grand Opening

Hi guys and girls! Had a good time at the LTBMW meet although I'm sneezing, nose is dripping and I have a cough now.

Some goods and bads, fails and wins.

Good: It didn't rain on the trip up there Bad: It sprinkled on the drive back after just washing the car.

Good: Got a "model" from ModelMayhem to come out for a shoot Bad: She didn't show up. Me: "Hey you comin?" Her: "You didn't tell me it was today." Me: "Uh...it's typed RIGHT there on the casting call" Her: "But you didn't tell me ..." I was pretty upset and as I started tearing down all my gear, Long had an idea...

Good: Long Tran got Natalie to pose for a few shots since I had already setup all my lights. Natalie was a real sport not to mention good looking so feel free to comment on any of the photography, but keep any comments about Natalie to yourself unless they're positive

Bad: 3pm and my wife and I hasn't had lunch yet. Good: Din Tai Fung is 8 minutes away from the shop and we stop by for some good food there, winning Also thank you so much to Long's wife who brought out a plate of goodies for my wife who was sitting there bored. *Really* appreciated that.

Onto the photos. I'll post the shoot with Creaminz' nice ride and Natalie last

Seriously, I asked several people what the hell that rope is for and I'm not sure what the real purpose is.

You're not gonna like it when I get angry...

I thought only the VW guys like the poke

-----And the photoshoot-----

Action shot with lovely models Long Tran and [edit: Co Owner] Ivan

Momma said never shoot a girl with a wide angle... well here's 14mm from below

What gear did you use for the shots? filters, lenses?

I am just getting into this, so I am interested in how people are pulling these shots together.

I hope the fact I am asking is recognized as a compliment!

Nice work as usual. Sucks about the model not showing up. One thing I've learned is you need to double...triple book with MM girls b/c they usually flake.

Congrats to LT on the grand opening!

Hey, no filters. Thanks for asking and I do take it as a compliment. Thanks =)

It's a D700 with a 24-70mm f/2.8 for the majority of them. The really wide ones are with the 14-24mm.

One large softbox in a studio strobe and 2 speedlights.
