That clearly is an older model E46 style 3 series. There is no way that is 60k, nevermind the 45k value that the press put on it. Its true... take a look at Columbia University in Harlem...and now uptown is the classic yuppie gentrification area in Manhattan...if I only knew I would have bought property there twenty yrs ago when they were pratically giving it away

From what I read, those two live on that street and are neighbors. It seems that they were in the car coming back from something, or meeting up.

Now, from a source who is an LAPD LEO that was on scene of the crime told me that the girl in the passenger seat was shot point blank and the driver was shot execution style on the porch. Truly heartless..

I think there's more to this story based on what you just wrote. Originally I read the shooting happened with the car stopped in the middle of the street not at a curb which is odd. Now it sounds like there was an execution. I could be reading too much into this but it doesn't quite sound so random to me...

It's true, I mean, look at the Smith Street/Carroll Gardens/Red Hook area. It was the "hood" not that long ago, and some parts of it is still the hood.

But look at it now, i find myself there quite a few times a month for some awesome new foods. Amazing.

Hey I had Asian coworkers travel to Israel and they got stones thrown at them. As for being car jacked....shit happens...like someone said...always be aware of your surroundings...esp in Cali...come on...everyone knows LA is mini Mexico and thug Mexicans who cross illegally are the worst type...could have been a white guy that did the car jacking, who knows, don't care... L I F E H A P P E N S !

It clearly doesn't make owning a BMW dangerous by any means. Hondas get jacked the most and Chevy trucks

Car Jacking should be a mandatory life without parole/death sentence crime. It ends in injury or death in far too many cases.

Wow, I just traded an E46 almost identical to that one, possibly in ever better condition, and the "thieves" at my local BMW dealer only gave me $7k for it. I should have sold it to the reporter who wrote that article I guess.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Two young men were arrested Friday in the killings of two Chinese graduate students who were shot in an apparent robbery attempt last month near the University of Southern California, police said.
Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said Javier Bolden, 19, and Bryan Barnes, 20, were arrested on suspicion of the murders, which sent shockwaves through the university where nearly 1 in 5 students is from overseas. The victims' parents filed a lawsuit this week accusing USC of misrepresenting the campus' safety.
Ming Qu, of Jilin, and Ying Wu, of Hunan, were shot April 11 while sitting in a BMW about a mile away from the USC campus. Both students were 23 years old.
The motive for their killings was still under investigation, Beck said, but the "evidence points to a street robbery," and investigators believe the killings were part of a larger string of crimes the two men committed in Los Angeles.
"Forensic evidence recovered at the scene linked them to two other attempted homicides," Beck said. Evidence directly linked both suspects to the victims, he added.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa congratulated the city's police force, which cooperated with the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to investigate the killings and make the arrests Friday.
He praised officers for "diligence in following every lead and investigating every detail."
Beck declined to provide details of how the suspects were pinpointed but said, "This was a crime that shocked this city, and we absolutely left no stone unturned."
Barnes was arrested at a home near campus Friday afternoon, and Bolden was arrested a few hours later in Palmdale, Beck said. Both were being held without bail and are set to be arraigned Tuesday.
