Although the Boxster isn't for me personally, I would bet it will prove to be better than the M3 in most meaningful ways on a track. It just comes down to what you want/value. The new version is also very nice to look at.

I personally think you are making a mistake. However, its your money if you sell the M3 and get the Boxster, enjoy it in good health.
If you were talking about a 997.2S or even 991 different story, but not a Boxster. Dave

Wait for the Cayman S or R! A d then and that crazy turbo another guy posted recently. If I didn't have a kid and need 4 seats I would go for it! New Cayman S is definitely a beautiful car!

The new Boxster is a totally different car than the outgoing model. I love it. Still, I would wait for the new Cayman.

You guys can rag on the Boxster all you want. My '99 986 was one of the best handling cars I've ever owned, and even with the 2.5 it showed its ass to many cars with a lot more power when the road got twisty.
But... I would not sell an E9X M3 to buy one now, even with all the advances made since then. |

While I love the Boxster (handling is in a different realm than anything BMW), I would get a Cayman S or R. Those handle even better and certainly make anything BMW has look clumsy and lazy on its feet in comparison. But the Boxster does make a great back road carver or track car and works if you dont need much space as a DD.
