Time for a change
The time has come for me to leave the marque, at least for the time being.
Traded in my 2008 M3 (70K miles) for . . . wait for it! A Volvo. Actually a Volvo S60 Polestar. I just couldn't get my arms around the new M3/M4 and was getting tired of silver/grey cars (two M3's - E46 and E92) an Acura and a Toyota MR2. Polestar is a limited addition Volvo S60 massaged by the Polestar racing arm of Volvo. Car comes off the S60 line and goes to Polestar for uprated suspension (including fully adjustable Olhins shocks, springs (80% stiffer) and bushings). Engine (3 liter turbo six 350hp) has bigger Borg Warner turbo, modified software, big exhaust (2 1/2 inch back to muffler and 3 1/2 inch to the tail pipe with adjustable baffles), and Brembo 6 piston brakes. Car comes standard with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Transmission logic is modified for quicker shifts using paddles. Interior is modified with better seats with a combination of real suede (not Alcantara) mixed with leather (my local BMW dealer had to admit the seats are amazing), some carbon fiber bits here and there including shock tower brace. And, a bit of '40s tech, a real dip stick. The rest of Volvo is going to the electronic sensors like BMW and Mercedes. Polestar also adds some aero bits that drop the drag coefficient down to .28. I think my E92 was at .32. I almost feel guilty saying this, but I'm really enjoying this car. I did like my two M3s, but just needed something different. If anybody needs the E9x 19 inch OEM wheels I have a full set, unblemished, in boxes, and I also have the stock exhaust which was replaced by the M Performance exhaust. Just PM me and we can talk about price. When I saw a picture of Polestar I had real concerns about the color, but when I saw the car in the metal, it was amazing. The color is Polestar's team color. I've had more comments (favorable) regarding this car than I've had with any other car I've owned. That was one of the things I used to enjoy with the two BMWs were all the positive comments. Performance is better than the E46 and almost equal to the E92. (Per Volvo and Car&Driver 0-60 is 4.5, skid pad is .92). Plenty fast enough for a daily driver. And mileage on the road appears to be about 28 mpg. Nice bump from the E92. Enjoyed chatting with you folks on occasion. Volvo is making only 700 cars worldwide with 265 coming to the US. A couple of pictures. |

Hey Flagger, being a Viking and having a number of Volvos I can't help appreciating your post and somewhat surprising comparison with the BMW M3. One thing is for sure; the Volvo seats are superp, for long drive. And not to forget the safety protection is leading edge.
That said, I'll stick around with my M3 as long as I can afford filling up and changing oil...☺ |

thats somewhat of a strange transition. what is the drivetrain configuration? looks a little bulky, i don't know if i could get used to that, but the numbers don't lie. happy wheeling.

One additional aside, this car has the best paint quality, off the lot, of any car I've owned, and there have been many. |

OP, I agree with 1Moremod. Nice color choice. That E9x V8 sound is like a drug, you'll be back and we will be here to welcome you with open arms.
That Volvo is like a Pole Star, she will have you mesmerised for a while but your heart will always belong to N/A M3.

Nothing wrong with trying out different rides. I've enjoyed the AWD turbo'ed cars but they never keep me interested for long. But in the meantime, enjoy your yas marina volvo!

my friend has a 12 S60 T5 and it's one solid car.
Although it may lack some tightness at its max compared to the M3's powertrain, on daily drive it's as comfortable and as solid I actually have been looking at the current gen S60s (non-polestar) awd as DD after riding in one several times. The price is actually so good, just wondering how the reliability of Volvo is Out of so many companies going the wrong directions (powertrain, design etc etc), Volvo is one company I'm so interested in, it's definitely going towards + direction with the recent models, especially XC90 (love it!) congrats on a nice ride man!
