Every car I've owned (except for my 1996 Impala SS) has been with a sunroof, including my current M3. Driving down the highway at 70-80 mph with the windows down is just too loud for me and I love having the air flow through the cabin.

On a Hot 90F+ days on a track. Track temperature would be higher for sure.
I am sure no one will turn on their AC on a circuit.

My questions to Aerospace guys are:

Which car will go faster at a same mass, same driver, same temp, same pressure tires:

1. One with CF roof with 1/4 side window down?
2. One with Sunroof with no side window down, but pop the sunroof up?

I used the sunroof button more often than the M button but that's just me. Amazing option to vent out your car on hwy and I always photoshoot my car with my sunroof tilted. I think it makes the car more aggressive in a way.

The electric motor mounts on the leading edge just aft of the rearview mirror, under the controls for lights and the roof. It actually weighs less than I thought. Total for the whole cassette and motor is 34 lbs but this is from an e46.

Weight comes off more gradually than you would think. Really tough to get super low weight with these cars.

In order to answer your question CD would have to be known for both configurations assuming that all other considerations were the same...but they're not. F= MA is probably governing and M is greater for the sunroof car.

That will sell quick to an e46 guy as the sunroof casettes are notorious for breaking.

Good to know, wasn't aware there was a demand, I pretty much have an entire interior to unload.

yeah if it's a black interior that may be popular as well, but def the sunroof assembly as I said before; they are notorious for breaking when used.

I have a sunroof and the color silverstone....I think silverstone is the slowest right? I do have some decals on my car that may make up for it...

I wouldn't buy an M3 with a sunroof. Sunroof is useless, adds weight in the worst possible place, more shit to break, makes car noiseier, interior gets dirtier, less headroom. You couldn't pay me to have a sunroof put on any vehicle I own.
+1

You could pay me but it would have to be AT LEAST as much as it would cost to have a high quality body shop replace the roof panel with a non sunroof panel, and in reality, I'd probably want triple that amount for the resale hit and the trouble

That's one of the things that reaffirms me about being an engineering test pilot; I can predict everything that's going to happen in the air before I ever leave the runway. It works for ground bound vehicles as well.

Perfectly understandable, if your real life persona is anything like your online personality, it is a perfect means of birth control.

Regarding your a-hole comment: trust me, she would be severely disappointed.

LOL.
It would be funny to see all these analytical chemist from Sherwin-Williams, Valspar, ppg, BASF guys sitting down, spending 100 man hour per scientist to figure out which paint would have lowest density. That will probably save 1lbs per car based on most to less dense paint color?

I would rather put 1/4 gallons less of octane.

Great! Now go race in Formula 1. You should be able to win since you can "predict" everything about the car's handling even before you leave pitlane

No it's actually because every girl I date asks to see my Harvard degree but sadly I don't have one to show. Can I borrow yours?

If Richards at TopGear stalls more than 3 times with F1 Renault, I am sure Dr. HBS OR even a chancellor of Harvard won't even be able to activate the hydraulic with throttle.
