Engine problem?

Hey guys, in the morning when i first start up the car, the engine seems to rev itself and there are some weird noises from the engine. This has never happened in the past and it has been doing that after i did my services at a dealership. What is wrong with my m3? Thanks in advance for your help.

Need more details than that. What do you mean rev itself? What rpms? Does is fluctuate up and down? What kind of noises?

Thanks for the help. The engine fluctuates around 800-1300 rpm rapidly for around a minute.

More questions. Does this happen when the temperature is warm or cold outside. What is the operating temperature of the engine when this happens? What kind of noises?

I am not sure how to describe the noise, it's just way louder than normal times. The temperature was at the lowest point shown (50 degree celsius) and the outside temperature was about 15 degree celsius (59 F).

I had similar symptoms and it was diagnosed as the idle control valve that needed to be replaced.

Might be lounder because of the fluctuating rpms. Could be Idle Control Valve. I'm not sure if it will throw a code or not, maybe some other members can chime in. For the future, try to post more information about your problems.

Include weather and engine conditions, year of your car, km, and any mods that you might have. This will make it easier to diagnose.

Good luck.

As far as the idle issue that sounds pretty normal especially when that cold out. Ill agree with the others I have seen a handful of issues with idle valves and I have even replaced one as early at 500 miles on a brand new m3, as you could guess the customer wasn't very happy that the check engine light came on in the first 500 miles.

Alright thank you all for your help. I am bringing it to the dealership and hopefully the problem will be fixed.
