Maserati Spyders why so cheap?

Why are some of the 05/06 Maserati spryders with very low miles so cheap?

they seem to go for $35k ish for only 20k ish miles on the car...

Arent they like 100k cars?

maseratis seem to have shitty resale. i dont like their interiors much either

Is there anything to worry about like parts being stupid expensive? Different style of warranty? Anything i should be awared of?

I just really loved that car since 5 or so years ago.. always thought car being a "dream car" but few days ago went to look at some used exotics and saw the car was pretty cheap and had low miles. I wont mind getting burned and being a bit slower than M's and AMG in a Maserati if i can... Car def looks pretty good.. And the badge kinda does make it more appealing to me..

they wont let me test drive the car tho...

Saw that too,... amazingly low prices for a Maserati,... I think maybe the catch is in service costs, parts and maintenance,... but I'd definitely would like to know too.

resale value on maseratis are never good

plus in those year models, reliability is a big issue...

Mcfly and Lyndon nailed it.
Poor resale value due to a relatively unknown brand here in the US, past reliability issues, and the high cost of maintaining an Italian car lead to bargain used prices.

If it's going to be your only car, you'd be much better off in a BMW M, Mercedes AMG, or Audi S car. Gives you performance, prestige (though not Maserati level), and less costly to own/operate.
Then again, sometimes you just gotta go with what you want. Happiness has no price tag. That's why my goal is to one day own either an Aston Martin or Maserati.

A family friend has a seriously tuned 996 turbo, and when he got it he looked at maseratis and especially ferraris, he asked around and the consensus on the Italian cars was that while they are beautiful everyday, they only start some days!

in 02, the cambiocorsa (F1 paddle system) was pretty much crap. Maseratis depreciate like a mofo. That's just how they are. Service is expensive out of warranty. That is why you can pick one up for somewhat cheap. If you were to get an 02 Maserati Coupe or Spyder, make sure you get one with a manual tranny.

Having driven the Cambiocorsa transmission, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Not sure on the long-term reliability of it, but as for performance, I had no complaints.

the last gen is quite ugly and don't perform up to their price tag... bad resale value due to the varouis reasons people already mentioned (reliability, cost to maintain, etc..)

the new gen is very nice though and i think should keep their value a bit better. however, Masaratti is one of those cars, i think, that real rich people dont want (they rather have a Ferrari/Lambo) and the less rich people can't afford or rather have a Porche.. sorta stuck in the middle.. not a good thing when performance is not up to par and has much less recongnition in the US.

Japanese > German >/= Korean >/= American > Italian

fun/performance engineering:
Italian (really just Ferrari, since lambo is really German anyways) >/= German > Japanese >/= American > Korean

aesthetic/design:
Italian > German > Japanese > American > Korean

nope. The Granturismo is already tanking. You can find an 08 that had an MSRP of 147k for around 85k with hardly any miles on it.

from research, experience, etc.. i know they are coming up in the rankings now, but overall, it still aint much good. Korean made are actually better (closer to Japanese now). there are always exceptions but i'm just talking about in general. and if you look at "my" rating, German is greater or equal to Korean which is also greater or equal to American... what it says is German is really not that much better than American..lol. but since German cars in general are better made/higher quality cars, i give it the advantage.
