ZCP wheel tyre size options
Has anyone tried the 255/35/19 285/30/19 (same as M3 GTS) on the zcp M359 wheels?
Any reviews on the way the car handles and grips with this wider tyre size? Was just thinking which set up to go for on my new wheels or stick to original tyre sizes 245/35/19 265/35/19 |

The front tires on the E92 M3 are about 1/2 inch smaller diameter than the rear. And the car is programmed for that re: DTC, yawl, etc. 255/30/19 in front with the 285/30/19 rear maintains the 1/2 inch smaller in front. This will help to prevent premature DTC intervention. |

I respect 4corners opinion but I think he means a 265/30/19 not a 255/30/19. I for one don't like the 265/30/19 up front as its not even 25.5" tall and find the sidewall lacking. There is really no issue running GTS sizes on a ZCP car. I have been doing it since the car was new..27k miles ago. Dave

I also think the engineers got it right with OEM sizes for all around drive-ability. But gear heads will tweak! Last edited by 4corners; 01-18-2013 at 01:46 AM.. Reason: Added line |

This has to be the most discussed topic in the wheel and tire forum.... I would get 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 for ZCP wheels. It maintains the factory stagger in width and diameter, plus those sizes are well-suited for 9" and 10" wheels. I wouldn't hesitate to change to those sizes. The OEM sizes are a little stretched on the wider ZCP wheels. You will also fill some of the fender gap if you are on stock suspension (slightly taller tires). I personally don't like the idea of 285/30, 255/35 combo because the rears will be lower profile than the front and that is how your car was programmed. Best of luck and do yourself a favor and run a search on this topic if you want more information.

There should be a little more grip considering the extra tire width. I have not run this set-up so I can not say from personal experience. I would expect to experience no noticeable change in normal driving; with some extra grip at the limit. It will look better and there should be no negative impact. Tons of people of gone this route. Again... you might want to do a search.

I ran 255/35/19 and 295/30/19. AD08 on stock EDC, no issue. Feels great on the track. When the 295 is warmed up, grip is awesome.

Never said it didn't have any real handling advantages. I feel it does, understeer is a little less and a little more grip coming out of a corner. If I could go wider I would. I just feel with the OEM ZCP sizes (IMHO) of the wheels, you don't want to run beyond the GTS sizes. Dave

The tire choices for 285/35 are better anyway, you can't get Michelin Super Sport in the 285/30. I want to replace my stock with 275 or 285's. The stock buldge just looks ridiculous, not sure why they didn't put 275's on DCT.

It's a crying shame that Michelin doesn't make a 285/30-19, by the way. At any rate, running a 285/35 really increases the sidewall height over stock. I'm running 275/35 PSSs in the rear and would like a stiffer/lower sidewall.

1-Because 285/35/19 is a little larger in diameter than I think makes sense. It's always best to stick with a tire diameter that is close to stock. 275/35/19 is slightly larger than stock and 285/35/19 is of course larger than that. 2- I also like to stick with a 20mm stagger or less (more stagger results in more understeer). I don't see a reason to go to 285/35/19 considering 275/35/19 is a great match for the 10" ZCP wheel.

Apparently the M3 GTS uses the 255/35 front and 285/30 rear...seems like BMW wouldn't put the combo on if it wasn't right for the car. Also another member on this post seems to have good results with that combo. Know why the GTS model is fine with it? http://www.automobile-catalog.com/ti...mw_m3_gts.html
