E9x m3 vs B7 Audi RS4

I went to the audi showroom with my buddy who was looking for used RS4 and the Sales claimed that RS4 handles way better then the m3, is that true? I havent driven RS4 but i know its 4wd. Rs4 handles better then e9x m3?

The RS 4 does handle extremely well. I can't comment on the M3, however since I have never driven one.

B7 RS4 is cool too

not better then M3 in handling, but probably easier and safer to driver to limits due to AWD

I agree 100%. One of my favorite cars of all time. Understated rocket that sounds AMAZING. Not many cars around like it.

The salesman stated "the RS4 handles way better than the M3." That is false. The opposite is true.

I always find it funny what car salesmen say ... In reality the M3 will outperform the RS4 on the track. However, since most of us drive on normal roads, an argument can be made that the RS4's handling will be better for day-to-day driving in rain/snow/etc...

In any event, can't go wrong with either. I'd chose a B8 S4 [NOT RS4], but I like the AWD and styling better.

I bet you would change your mind if you drove the RS4.

Hahahaha funiest thread!!just hope you didn't take that salesman seriously cause thats his job man!!if you go to a bmw salesman he wouldn't even mention the rs4 or any oyher audi if you ask him about it..he'll surely laugh like i just did...just watch top gear m3 vs rs5(wich is a coupe so it handles better than the rs4..there's also alot of upgrade for example the engine is now at the rear of the axle)keep in mind that the m3 was lauched in 2008 and the rs5 this year and still it could'nt beat it!!!!

I owned a 2008 B7 Rs4. I love how advise is given based on someone else's review or a tv show's review. I have driven the M3 on a couple occasions. First, in regards to the Audi, the torque is split 40/60, giving the rear tires more bias and reducing understeer. Unless driven to the limit, you will have a hard time unseating that car. Second, in cars like the Rs4 and M3, they have levels of grip which not only offer high levels of confidence, but also have capabilities that far exceed my (and maybe yours, unless you're a pro driver) driving skill.

That said, there are things about the Rs4 that are better than an M3 and vice versa, the interior for instance. Mine had the Audi Prestige interior and titanium package. 8 piston front brakes were pretty awesome as well.

Actually, on a wet track the M3 smoked the RS5. Just sayin......

I would rather have the engine in the B8 S4.

Again, this is a track with professional driving pushing the car to the limits (speed wise, which the M3 is easily faster). In every-day driving, the cars perform differently.

IMO b7 rs4 = e9x m3 in terms of exhaust sounds. Rs4 has a bit deeper tone while the m3 har a more urgent high pitch to it.

However i think the flat plane cranks v8's sound much better than either of these motors.

F355, F360 Challenge Stradale, 430 scuderia, (ls7, lsa, ls9 sound pretty damn good as well)

Remember that the e90 M3 is newer than the B7 RS4... that being said, the RS4 just isn't as great as the M3. I have been around both plenty and I'd like to argue that the Audi aged very fast

I honestly think they are very different cars. Not as simple as the Top Gear comparison might have you believe.

Well...I was never a huge fan of Audis...but was always curious about the RS4.

I have 136K miles on my e46 M3, and felt it was time to get something new. I wanted a V8 and 4 doors, so I had my eye on the e90 M3. I test drove a used RS4 last weekend and was blown away...much better than I expected. Unless you drive the car at its limits, it's not going to plow...it felt more balanced than I expected and the damping was superb...With that being said, I'm picking it up this Saturday...and it has a GMG cat-back exhaust which sounds great. I never thought I'd see myself out of a BMW...

As for Salesmen...I remember test driving a Subaru Legacy GT, and the salesman tried to convince me that it handled better than a Porsche.

Thumbs up

Beautiful RS4! Love the white piping on the seats. Is that the Euro steering wheel? Mine looked different.

Wow.... blast from the past.... I used to be on Roadfly. You keeping the E46 M3? RS4 definitely a great car. Is that the exact one you're buying? Euro wheel... nice. You drive the E90 M3 or B8 S4 or was the RS4 love at first drive?

hardly any e9x M3 owners in this thread. to answer the OP's question - the M3 handles much better than an RS4. with that said, test drive both - obviously no car is for everyone.
